Kesler to #TEAM1040 on future in Van: "I love it here. I've already paid for private school. We're planning on coming back next year"

Clearly Kes wants to stay here and ultimately win the Cup with the Canucks retiring as one too but he also realizes the reality of it. If the team a goes a different route, Kes may be gone but there's a possibility that may not happen anymore since MG says he wants to go back to his olds ways as he went off track the last little bit.

I don't extract ANYTHING out of these interviews beyond "nobody knows".

Just when you think you have it figured out, BOOM, it changes.

Look at our recent past to see why you shouldn't try to foresee what will happen, because nobody can. Twists and turns happen just when you least expect them.

I want Kes here. Period.

Fantastic. Kesler is the engine of this team. He's letting his true intentions be known.

Trading him for unproven prospects is too much of a risk, especially at the present juncture this team finds themselves in.

The fact that Gillis attempted to trade him, shows where he is with his players.

This team has a better future without Kesler period

While he is ok here when on his game, who compliments him? Who does he compliment? he is a fairly selfish player. Put him with the twins we're a one line team. Slot him on the 2nd line and we're a one line team full of shooters and tweeners

Trade him now and reap the return

Trade him next year and either hope we get any return at all, or most likely....watch him get injured (again) and miss months on months of the season

Love Kesler, love what he brings to this team. But right now what he could bring this team that would help the most, is a solid return of picks and prospects.

Also, players, coaches and GM's have ALL "said things" and then done another. Don't read to deeply in to it. Remember what happened to Lou when he basically said i'd like out but....Kesler could just be using his brain by saying nothing.

It's pretty well know that Kes isn't a fan of Torts, so by him saying he's staying here, the writing is on the wall for Torts

Kesler and Tortorella both said Thursday their relationship is fine.

"He has been one of my best coaches I have played for," Kesler said. "I have learned a lot from him. I thought he turned my career around. Obviously, I was struggling for a bit there with injuries and this year I thought he really came in and wanted the best and I loved playing for him."

Your logic is false, completely false...

I think he's here at season start and if he's traded it will be a 'surprise' and it will be backed up with some weak reason involving the coach or whatever.

Oh wait, wasn't that Luongo?

In any event, i'd be fairly surprised if he retired a Canuck. Hell, i'd be surprised if the Sedins retired as Canucks. Canadian teams primarily shove their stars out the door before that.

Oh, if we trade him the return won't be great. Getting a great return isn't typically what happens in these scenarios involving Canadian teams.

stop with the conspiracies already.

you're worse than the loose change 9/11 was an inside job blah blah blah crowd.

If he wants to stay, great.

He's the heart and soul of the team along with Juice and becomes a part of the rebuild.

If he doesn't want to stay, that's OK as well. Bob Nicholson can then move him for a good young player and picks to help speedup the rebuild.

Well, what do you expect?

The kind of money these guys cost a team is no different than a race horse.

Yes, that's correct, hockey players are like race horses - wait until they are past their prime and you get nothing in return.

I wish the NHL would adopt the NFL "player release" clause.

If they want to go a different direction or don't like their performance, they can just cut them. No penalty. No CAP hit.

Their contract becomes null and void and they can sign elsewhere as a free agent.
