Something up in Jetsville with Kane

Healthy scratch in a nationally broadcast Sat. night game against the leafs!

Kane was seen talking to his agent outside the dressing room last night.

Jets coach Paul Maurice said Saturday morning that he would dress his best lineup as they prepared for the Maple Leafs.

But by the time the puck dropped at Air Canada Centre, Winnipeg forwardEvander Kane had been listed as a healthy scratch as the Jets went on to deliver a severe blow to Toronto's playoff hopes with a 4-2 win.

Asked what Kane had to do to return to the lineup, Maurice said, "probably just come to the rink."

Kane was seen outside the Jets locker-room post-game speaking with his agent, but declined to comment on being a healthy scratch.

Despite all the talk in Winnipeg about how there really isn't any strife, it's very easy to see how the rumours keep circulating that Kane wants to be traded (or that Winnipeg is looking to trade him).

If there's one target I think we can and should go after to get younger, bigger, faster and improve our offence, it's Evander Kane.

I agree, I think he offers what we have been looking for all along, I imagine his attitude improves alittle in vancouver, a city he wants to play in and on a team with a lot of successful veterans - kesler, hammer, the sedins etc

plus we have no one of impact in our forward group in his age range, although kass and Jensen are improving

if we draft a skill center like nylander then getting kane solidifies a very solid top 9 going forward and we can turn our attention to our future defensive situation

I say with our pick being so high, draft fleury or nylander and trade either this years or next years for Kane along with Hansen

Evander Kane does not have a NTC,

$5.25M cap hit for 4 years after this season,

30 goal scorer with 4 years in the league at 22 years old,

If he becomes available, there would be a huge bidding war!

Hansen and a 1st would not even come close.

While I've heard some of his off-ice stuff (not substantiated, but heard at least) I haven't really heard as much about what the issue is if any within the team. That would have to be addressed prior to finalizing the trade of course (and no way Hansen and a 1st gets it done) but if there's anywhere he'd do well it'd be here in Vancouver - or it could blow up in our faces, but I'll take that risk if we don't have to give up too much.

Consider what we would like from a Kesler trade, particularly with the Penguins. If they were to offer Bennett, Pouliot and their 1st for Kesler, would you take that or make a three way deal by including Kane coming back to us (and maybe they include the rights to Burmistrov)? I'd like to get a little more, like maybe Pitts' 1st, but just not sure we can in a deal like that.

Booth + Hansen + Weber + 2015 2nd ??

What does Winnipeg really need (other than to unload Kane)?

Goaltending?

Don't want to give up Markstrom at this point, maybe by year-end.

Eriksson probably doesn't interest them that much but maybe as a piece of the puzzle.

Whatever, I think Kane would be a very interesting project for Gillis and Torts.

Wow, if that's all the Jets could get for Kane, then it's best they keep him.

He doesn't have a NTC and is locked up for years. Change of scenery is all he needs. If the Canucks had boat loads of interest for Kesler, who has a NTC, the Jets will have 29 teams bidding for Kane who has a reasonable salary and can get traded anywhere.

If I were Jets brass, I would look at the Islanders, they like to make lopsided trades that help the other team more then their own.

so a buyout candidate, the player who was previously mentioned, an offensive #6 outcast and a second? you think that will land a 22 year old fourth overall pick?

ok then

hell why not add a conditional fifth and try for Crosby?

I sort of thought Lack would have been a great piece to throw in a Kane deal...

What was I thinking?

Wow, what a blue line they would have.

ya but because of the jets blueline depth I dont think theyd even be all that interested in gudbranson.
