I don’t usually complain about the umps/refs in sports, but that was really, really bad officiating. Can’t wait to see the Umps’ score card tomorrow and how much +runs Oakland got out of this game,

Hilariously inept. Most people who are this bad at their job don't get to keep it but that doesn't apply to MLB umpires, I guess.

Does this ball/strike tracking system measure the ball crossing the entire plate?  So every miss for sure didn’t touch some if the black, at some point?  If it does, why do we have people calling balls and strikes when the machine is perfect?  The ump should get a signal from the machine (simple tone for a strike) and then make that call.  He’s there pretty much to everything except call balls and strikes.

Watching the pitch go 4 inches out side and being called a ball seems really strange after yesterday's ump.

And 4 minutes later a ball that is 2-4 inches high, gets a STRIKE CALL.

Then Vlad swings at a Jeff Nelson special, because you just don't know if it gets called.

Bit of a nail-biter today.....but a 4-3 win and the Jays still have not lost a series.

A 6-4 record is actually pretty good, considering neither the starting pitching, nor batting has really been what we expected. Some of the hitters are putting up decent numbers, but the lack of clutch hits has cost the Jays a couple of wins.

Great W Today 6-4 after 10 games is not bad..on to Boston

Just read an interesting bit about the Red Sox. After the Jays visit Boston and Houston, the Bosox make a return trip to Toronto for a 4 game series (Apr 25 to 28)

Alex Cora was asked if any of his players would miss that series, due to their vaccination status and although he didn't elaborate, his answer was "yes". The only player that we know about for sure is pitcher Tanner Houck, but Cora said he expects others to be unavailable as well....

After having to play half a season without a true home game last year. it's nice to see the rules work in the Jays' favor for a change.....

The good news is, only the ChiSox have a better record in the AL than the Jays.....they've played one less game, so their 6-3 record is slightly better than Toronto's 6-4. Tempering that is the fact that a lot of teams are at, or are close to that winning percentage. In other words, the Jays need to keep up the current pace, or even better, improve on it.

The problem is, the starting pitching has just been okay, as has the hitting. So far this season, the bullpen has been the strength of the team, the polar opposite of this time last season.

One thing that would really help the hitting, IMHO, is for Vladimir Guererro Jr to start taking some walks.....Without Teoscar Hernandez hitting behind him, opposing pitchers have little incentive to throw him strikes, yet he continues to swing the bat as if they are. Lourdes Gurriel Jr has picked up the pace since being moved up in the order, but some of that success has to do with teams deciding to let him beat them, rather than Vladdy.

Looking at last season's stats, VG Jr's BB/K ratio was excellent for a power hitter at 86/110. This season (and granted, it's a small sample size) it's an abysmal 2/11. With Teo out of the lineup, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that one of the most dangerous power hitters in the game should be walking all the time.

Vladdy just needs to stop swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. Let Gurriel, Chapman, Kirk and Espy do the damage until pitchers start throwing you strikes....

Bichette made a real nice throw early in the game but since then got a little too full of himself and now his second error on the day cost a run.

To be fair to Bo, Vladdy Jr. completely whiffed on the ball when he tried to pick it off the ground. Bo’s throw was pretty accurate and it could have been easily caught if you have a good first base glove.
