Gotta love the AL east.  Jays have the 5th best record in the AL....but are 4th in their division.

Yep and Orioles won again Today now 14-7 though they’ve had an easier schedule

Damn, the Jays starting pitchers held the Yankees to just one earned run the entire series.

Kikuchi: 6IP, 4H, 1ER, 3K

Manoah: 7IP, 2H, 0ER, 5K

Gausman: 7IP, 3H, 0ER, 11K

They were missing Stanton and JD, but even with that in mind, that offense is nearly as daunting as it was last year. Judge is not raking like he was and they don't don't have this year's early season version of Matt Carpenter....

They're still going to be a tougher out when they get healthy, but I don't think they're nearly as scary offensively as they used to be....

the Dodgers rank right up there with the Yankees as far as teams I despise, but I give them huge props for this:

Andrew Toles hasn’t played for the Dodgers since Sept. 30, 2018. However, he just had his contract renewed for another year last week.

You probably know Toles’ story. He hit .364 in the 2016 postseason for the Dodgers and was off to a solid start in 2017 when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament sliding into the wall while trying to make a catch. He missed the rest of that season but returned in 2018, playing 17 games. He wasn’t at spring training in 2019, and it was eventually learned he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

In 2020, Toles was found sleeping behind a building at Key West International Airport in Florida. He was homeless and taken to a mental health facility.

t last report, Toles was in the care of his father, Alvin, who said Andrew is in a “zombie-like” condition. ”We are having challenges,” Alvin told USA Today in 2021, “but nothing that God and I can’t handle. Schizophrenia, it’s just so tough. I mean, he can’t even watch TV. He hears voices and the TV at the same time, so it’s kind of confusing. I’ve seen him looking at some baseball games on his laptop, but I don’t think he really understands what’s going on. I just want him to have a chance in life. That’s all. Just to be healthy, live a normal life.”

It would be easy for the Dodgers to cut ties with Toles and wish him well. Instead, they have renewed his contract every year so Toles, 30, can keep his health insurance. They did so again this year. It’s a classy gesture that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

The story did not go unnoticed by former Dodgers pitcher Tom Koehler, who signed with the team in 2017, injured his shoulder in spring training and never pitched an inning for the team.

“I love this,” Koehler said on Twitter. “Saw it first hand how they treated me when I could provide nothing for them. I am not surprised they are helping Andrew. It’s bigger than sports.”

I would guess that almost all of us have a friend or family member who has suffered from a mental illness. While it seems unlikely that Toles will ever play in the majors again, let’s hope that he can just enjoy life again. And if things work out perfectly and he’s able to return to Dodger Stadium one day to throw out the first pitch or just wave from the stands, let’s hope there’s a sellout crowd on hand to give him a standing ovation.

Nice work Dodgers. I dislike you slightly less after reading this. (signing Freeman didn't hurt, either)

Seems like Kikuchi has carried his spring into the early season.  Nice to see a rebound from Manoah.  Lets hope that they can keep this going.  I wanna see some real playoff baseball with this team.  Not one and done failure.

Two other very cool moments from yesterday's game as well....

The first happened before the game. Cameras caught an unsuspecting Charlie Montoyo (now a bench coach for the ChiSox) talking to one of the other coaches, when he is caught up in a bear hug from Vladdy....

According to Hazel Mae, Vladdy tells the other coach (Jose Castro, I think) that he "loves" Charlie and that "He is like my dad"....

The other moment happened after Kevin Kiermaier hit a 2 run triple in the 4th. After sliding in to 3rd head first, KK's batting gloves were covered in dirt and would no longer allow him to grip the bat properly.....so instead of throwing them away, he gave them to a young fan, who was sitting close to the dugout. The kid's reaction is priceless....

Vladdy also throwing balls to a bunch of kids in the seats pregame... I love this team. Kiermaier probably made that kid's year.

His recent comments about the Yankees have made him persona non grata there, but I don't think there is a more likeable superstar in any sport....

Jays up 4-0 after 6....

Good thing too, as they aren't getting any help on the out of town scoreboard....Yankees lead the Twinkies 11-3 and Baltimore is ahead of the Bosox 5-2....
