Gurn
It is early but, 20% of the season is done So far I like the line up better, in the field, and at the plate. Miss the people, but prefer the more well rounded players, as to the 'extra' punch at the plate. Also like the much more serious attitude in the dug out. They are still having fun, but don't act like 4 year olds on a sugar high. Fielding seems much improved, but I feel Bo is still tossing away too many balls at first base. The starting pitching is either on or off, not much middle 'ok' ground. Same for the relievers. A couple of struggling batters, but most have been either ok or quite good. Need to string some wins together, and not just against the bottom feeders.

After seeing Seattle and their goofy trident, I kinda got the disdain the Yankees broadcast crew showed towards the Jays homerun jacket last year. I didn't mind the homerun jacket, but don't miss it at all either.
RUPERTKBD
Lots of promising things from today's game....Berrios' start, solid bullpen.... Biggest thing for me was the left handed bats....Biggio got a bit lucky, but Belt, Varsho and KK were money. Hopefully Vladdy's sore wrist is nothing serious.
Gurn
Listening to the Yankee game, in the back ground- guessing Jays are in a rain delay? Anyhow, I cannot believe I missed such a huge event; first female MLB player!! when did Wanda Franco get signed?
RUPERTKBD
A bit of a Freudian slip from the Oakland A's broadcaster....? https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/mlb/what-did-glen-kuiper-say-athletics-broadcaster-suspended-after-saying-racial-slur-on-air/ar-AA1aQsdg?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=ff0551e3ea5148f2b6b206f6be64d9e7&ei=18 Quote Athletics broadcaster Glen Kuiper has reportedly been suspended indefinitely after using a racial slur on-air while talking about visiting the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, per an NBC Sports spokesperson. Kuiper, who has been the primary voice for the Athletics since 2006, was doing a pre-game segment at Kauffman Stadium with Dallas Braden when the slip-up occurred. "We had a phenomenal day today," Kuiper said on the broadcast. "(N-word) League Museum. And Arthur Bryant's BBQ." There's video clip in the link. He comes right out and says it....
Gurn
^ That word would die out faster if everybody stopped using it. Unfortunately it has become a word that some people can use and others can't, so it will likely be with us for a couple more generations.
Brad Marchand
Fourth best record in the major leagues, third best record in their own division. I hate the AL East.

Only 8 teams in MLB have 20 or more wins. AL East have half of them. The last place Yanks aren't far off.
nuckin_futz
Willie Mays describing when, as a 17-year-old, he faced Satchel Paige for the first time: "It was 1948. Satchel had a very, very good fastball. But he threw me a little breaking ball, just to see what I could do, and I hit it off the top of the fence. And I got a double. When I got to second, Satchel told the third baseman, 'Let me know when that little boy comes back up.' "Three innings later, I go to kneel down in the on-deck circle, and I hear the third baseman say, 'There he is.' Satch looked at the third baseman, and then he looked at me. "I walk halfway to home plate and he says, 'Little boy.' I say, 'Yes, sir?' because Satch was much older than I am, so I was trying to show respect. "He walked halfway to home plate and said, 'Little boy, I'm not going to trick you. I'm going to throw you three fastballs and you're going to go sit down.' And I'm saying in my mind, 'I don't think so.' If he threw me three of the same pitch, I'm going to hit it somewhere. "He threw me two fastballs and I just swung...I swung right through it. And the third ball he threw, and I tell people this all the time, he threw the ball and then he started walking. And he says, 'Go sit down.' This is while the ball was in the air. "He was just a magnificent pitcher." (Source - "Willie Mays Comes Home" GQ Magazine interview 2/1/10)

Gausman was great but this team refuses to give him any run support so he can't win any games. Romano and the bullpen blow another one. Maybe it's time to give Swanson a try at closing games as Romano is not very good lately. Frustrating.

That is the worst part of his game. Guy is very good at the plate, runs the bases well and has decent range in the field. But those throw aways hurt
shiznak
What’s frustrating about the error is that Bo had all the time in the world to make a decent throw to first, because Harper didn’t exactly get out of the box quick and kind of leisurely sprinted to first.
