shiznak
Jays can potentially have 3 guys with 35+ homers. When's the last time that's ever happened!? Not sure when was the last time, but in 2000, the Jays had 4 guys who hit 30+ HR (Delgado, Batista. Cruz and Fullmer).
ShakyWalton
Personally I never liked him. Very toolsy but just seemed way, way too raw in his development. He's the kinda guy I could see getting real good at like 28-30 though. Agree..I was glad when he was traded.

theminister
Here's a little bit of EE number crunching to put his August (so far!) into perspective: Before the game on Aug 1st he was batting .241/.338/.455 with 51 runs, 17 db, 19 HR, 56 RBI in 95 GP .... this would average out to a 162 game season of 90 runs, 29 db, 32 HR, 95 RBI.... a pretty respectable season. In 22 August games (he missed four), in 79 AB, he has hit .392/.455/.772 with 22 runs, 10 db, 10 HR, and 34 RBI. This has pushed his season totals, through 117 GP, to .269/.358/.538 ... a 162 average of 101 runs, 37 db, 40HR, and 125 RBIs..... now... compare that to the 1st stat line.... and he made that change in 22 games only! Yowzer. Edited August 30, 2015 by theminister

theminister
I don't know if I deserve that.... The Jays now have a good opportunity to finish 1-2-3 in RBIs in the AL. No idea when the last time that was done. I just looked this up... I can't see that it has ever been done including the 1927 or 1931 Yankees. Can anyone else see if they can confirm this? Can anyone else see if they can confirm this? Just in the AL or the entire league? I think the closes was the 2011 Yankees, when Granderson, Teixeira, and Cano were all in the top 8 for RBIs. Edit: Yes...they were 1st, 2nd and 4th. Edited August 30, 2015 by theminister
theminister
And I'm starting to come around to the idea of trying Revere out of lead off (not that it's hurting us). If he could continue to get ON at a .350ish clip and Tulo could get going in the #5 spot then the lineup gets that much better, especially when/if Travis comes back and produces like he was. Considering we have a catcher who is on pace for around 20hr-70rbi, Pillar is chipping in with 30+ 2B and 20 SB, and CC/Smoak are a decent tandem....where is the out? Like....seriously. ShakyWalton
Funnily enough, this is maybe the best game Hutch has pitched all year. Didn't need the run support this time and got his ERA under 5.00. I think we should keep building Hutch up...he is 12 and 2...that should get something on the market...trade him for some good peices. I think we should keep him. Patience. He's got very good movement on the fastball. He can also paint the corners when he's dialed in. The movement I saw today in his heater reminded me of Doc when he was young. If Hutch doesn't have consistency by the middle of the season when he's 26 or 27, I'd say trade him. Basically give him another season and a half. Keep him as a 4-5 guy in the rotation.
