Ventura with yet another temper tantrum yesterday...

I can't find video of it, but he gave up a home run to Matt Carpenter and hit the next guy right in the back. From what I've read and what I saw in highlights it was totally unprovoked other than the fact he was pissy about giving up a bomb.

However, I did find this while scouring the internet for video of yesterday's bean job. Interesting to see Jays fans are far from the only people who can't stand him.

Quote

The idea of makeup—which refers to a player’s character, and essentially everything other than his physical skills—is important to the game’s evaluators. Make no mistake: they consider Ventura’s makeup, especially his immaturity and his temper, to be awful. To them, though, it is not nearly as bad as his stuff is great. “The stuff is just incredible,” says one rival scout. “Loose arm, looks like it’s made out of rubber.”

• Why Ventura has been a Royal pain for Kansas City

The secret about makeup is that for players who surpass a certain physical threshold, it almost never matters. Ventura might already be a former Royal, perhaps even a former major leaguer, if not for his magical right arm. “It’s unusual to have somebody who is this bad mentally and can last,” says one scouting director. “It takes a guy like him, who can throw 100, to be able to be like this. It’s very rare to have somebody with that sort of talent, but who is so aggressive in his personality and so emotionally out of control that it becomes a detriment. This guy might be in danger of crossing the line, but he’s not there yet.”

As noted in the article (if you open the link), Perez halfheartedly trotted to the mound when Machado charged it in "defense" of Ventura. It seems even his teammates are growing tired of it.

Also of note- his fastball averages 96 MPH (http://m.mlb.com/player/570649/yordano-ventura) but he hit Machado at 99. It seems he's not just trying to send a message (which happens) but intends to injure as well. What a choch.

It turns out that Machado wasn’t the only hitter Ventura wanted to plunk. Within the Kansas City Royals‘ clubhouse, the right-hander was talking about his plans to hit Jose Bautista with a pitch the next time he faced the Toronto Blue Jaysslugger, according to Yahoo’s Jeff Passan.

I'm watching Bluejays in 30 right now, so far my biggest take away from this series is that Carlos Gonzalez may just have the prettiest swing in all of baseball... It is a thing of beauty.

I also think it's interesting that he stands so far away from the plate, I guess when you're as big as him you can get to the outside half wherever you are.

You're not wrong about Saunders, Shaky. 20% of his ABs have been Ks. He is also more prone to Ks AFTER 60 pitches, which contrasts with everyone else.

I thought so..he is in a big slump right now.....nice tight game by the Jays today..in control all the way and Sanchez pitched well.

In comes the bullpen to do their best to blow the game for Sanchez...what a joke.

It is awful, I think Shapiro is an arrogant prick. They should be addressing the bullpen issue however that would admit they were wrong. I'm beginning to see Shapiro cares more about his own personal image than doing the right thing.

His stance makes it easier to be unpredictable in his approach, confuse the defense as to whether he's going to pull the ball or turn on it. Cat can run fast too. Definite offensive specialist.

According to TheScore Yankees are willing to trade Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman both lefties. Miller would be great but he will cost a lot to acquire, Chapman on the other hand won't cost as much since he will be a free agent after this season. I wouldn't mind the Jay's going after Chapman.
