[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread

Jays have contacted Milwaukee about closer Francisco Rodriguez. They also have interest in Tyler Clippard again, as they did at trade deadline last year.

AA says rotation is more of a need then bullpen and yet the Jays are linked to all these relievers, and in the article below it stays their also looking for a starter.

The Blue Jays have contacted the Brewers about closer Francisco Rodriguez, Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun reports. The Jays are also seeking a starter.

That the Jays would have interest in Rodriguez is no surprise. With the Brewers off to a 25-44 start, K-Rod seems likely to be on the market this summer, and the Blue Jays have been connected to other top relievers, like Jonathan Papelbon and Tyler Clippard.

I will say I am enjoying watching the Jays much more this year..some pitching help would go a long way however.

I think most of us realized that the team was going to come back to earth eventually. A lot of things have to go right to sustain that sort of winning streak and baseball players in general tend to go through hot and cold streaks.

The difference with this crew is that they seem to have worked past the cold streak early in the season and something just looks different than past seasons. I think we might see stretches of .500 baseball from time to time, but this just looks like a team that will win more than they lose. The way the teams in the AL East are built, that alone should put you in the hunt come September.

If AA can pull off a couple of deals to bolster the rotation and bullpen without selling the farm, it could be the first exciting fall for Jays' fans since the early 90s. A tall order to be sure, but that's why GMs make the big money. Get 'er done Alex!

BTW: One thing to remember is that the Jays still have Castro. His inexperience showed early this season, but the kid has a major league arm and when rosters are expanded in the fall, I expect him to be back with the big club and making a significant contribution to the pen.

PS: @Shaky, Sean, Yummy, Wilbur, RR and co. Thank God for you guys. It's so nice to have some people to actually talk baseball with. In the past it used to be nothing but a lot of "Who cares about baseball? It's boring!" etc, etc.

Don't ever change boys! :)

I think (or hope <_< ) he's learned his lesson after the Mets/Marlins deals. I'll be writing a strongly worded letter (yep, not an email) to AA if he goes and trades away more of the top young arms.

Not a great start today..ouch wow..mounting the big comeback..

Jays have real trouble with Baltimore..next the Rays who the Jays cant beat.

What a day for Copeland haha. I can't find probable starters for the Rays series but hopefully they don't have Archer going for them.

Copeland will probably sent down after the game..AA doesnt waste time demoting or promoting pitchers...Shultz looks like he could be a stud..sidenote...the Jays have alot of pop..I guess you cant call them out of it early

^^^ Potentially.

Luckily Delmon Young was taking all the way on that 3-0 pitch. That ball was begging to be hit 400+ feet.

Edit: Love Pillar but a brutal play on what should've been a relatively harmless 2 out single just cost them the lead.

Further edit: Now he makes a great catch to probably save a run. Good job minimizing.

Also, just curious, any of you ever play? If so, what level? Not trying to establish a pecking order or anything lol, but it;s not often you see baseball fans in Canada (assuming you're Canadian) that didn't play themselves.
