Rush17
I wanted to open up a discussion around one of our more complimentary pieces. I had no idea until today Hansen has a NTC kicking in this summer. So I figured I would write my 2 cents. Please share yours! "I honestly do think Hansen could elevate his play into a top 6 lineup if the environment was right. I could really see Hansen thriving on a team like phx where their team is relatively young, have viewer prospects in their system and a quieter media base. Hansen has the speed and he has shown he has skill but he needs an org to trust in him and develop him full time in a top 6 role. He has already shown he can be great defensively. I just don't see him getting that type of opportunity here with all of our upcoming prospects. I would love to see us trade Hansen for a b level prospect or Hansen + 3rd for prospect + depth player. I could really seeing him add value to teams like PHX as a top 6 and poss PHI as a 3rd liner (as examples)." What do you think? Let's be realistic in return expectations! I would prefer to trade him but we could keep him on a line with Horvat if he is called up next season. That would give us some exciting play. Plum
Trade him, we got Higgins, Santorelli (if he re-signs), Booth, Kassian, Richardson who can all move up and down the lineup. We have young players pushing for jobs in the next 1-3 years (Horvat, Shinkaruk, Lain, Archibald, Gaunce, Fox?). It is unlikely we buy out Booth so one of Booth or Hansen will likely be on the 4th line and that isn't good use of them considering their salary. I think we could use his 2.5M to land a better player in FA, trading him for picks is the best scenario IMO.

Keslerific
Love the guy but think trading him will be best for the team in the long run. See him as a 3rd/4th line RW guy. We can get someone like Kassian or Jensen as our 3rd line RW and someone like Grenier for the 4th line RW spot.

JE14
Trade him before his NTC kicks in. Would much rather have Santorelli and Santorelli can be had for a million cheaper. Also having Santorelli as the 3rd/4th line RWer is great since it gives the Canucks more center depth.
thad
I wouldn't trade him until you got a replacement. If one of the kids take his job then sure. He's more valuable than the 3rd round pick you'd get for him. Play him on the 4th line if you have to and can fit under the cap. He'd be the best 4th liner in the league. Sestito Richardson Hansen would probably be the best 4th line in the league actually.
Merely
Didn't Hansen have a part time job at the second line?
jimmyking8888
Trade hansen. I like the guy, but he does not have much upside. Canucks needs more sandpaper on 3rd line.
Phil_314
I hope we could ship him off for a young forward with Top-6 potential, much like how the Wild trading Clutterbuck brought them Niederreiter. Hansen + Schroeder out East somewhere for a decent young forward works for me. Neither of those guys can really cut it as Top-6 guys who would thrive in the Pacific but they're still good enough to get someone who can grow into a decent player since they are decent players themselves. (Burr/ Danny) _______ - Hank - Jensen (Danny/ Burr) _______ - Kes - _______ (Higgins) Booth - Matthias - Kassian (I'll keep them together next season as the 3rd line because they've played really well) Archibald - Richardson - _______
Alex Burrows 14
I would trade him but only if we needed the cap space. Sedin Sedin Jensen Burrows Kesler Kassian Higgins Matthias Hansen Booth Richardson Santorelli That's insane depth and center depth. If Horvat doesn't make the team then Matthias slots in as 3rd line center and dalpe or sestito come in on the 4th line

This. Trade him to a team that wants an immediate impact player and is willing to give up a good prospect. Phoenix, Washington, Winnipeg, and the Islanders could be good trading partners. If Horvat doesn't make the team then Matthias slots in as 3rd line center and dalpe or sestito come in on the 4th line That line-up is terrible. Booth is not going to be playing on the 4th line he is a second line player if he is not playing up to snuff he will be waived or traded. Santorelli is pretty much the reason why we are not in the playoffs and soon as he went down this team production plummeted and you are sticking him on the 4th line? If he plays like he did this year next year he is a second line player. Burrows, Booth and Hansen need to go.

Ghostsof1915
Ahh CDC at its bi-polar best. For months I've been hearing, trade Booth he's a bum. Booth where offence goes to die. People griping and complaining about his $4.5 Million dollar salary. Then he with Kassian and Richardson start playing well. Now it's dump Hansen. (Whom for the record tends to be far more durable, costs $2 million less) Hansen: 11 goals 9 assists 20 points Booth: 8 goals 9 assists 17 points. The only issue is Booth shoots the puck. Hansen is more cautious. Booth does hit more, but is also more frequently injured. I don't mind Hansen being on the 3rd or 4th Line. At least he works his tail off. And how soon everyone forgets 2011-12. Hansen had 16 goals, 23 assists and +18. Take the lockout shortened season and convert it to 82 games he'd have similar points in the 35-40 range as well. Hansen had an off year just like everyone else. But at least he shows up every night.
Silfverberg Snipes
Keep him. There are a lot of key players for this lineup under-performing because of Torts. The only trade/buyout bandwagon I'll ever be on is the Booth one. I do not want to get rid of any of Edler/Hansen/Kesler. We just need a coach that knows how to play to each players strengths, instead of enforcing a style that attempts to encapsulate the entire team in one fell stroke. I like you. On the other hand, he's a a player who we could move to make a roster spot for our younger players to come up and play but I'm not interested in getting rid of a solid piece for nothing just to make room for prospects. Just curious cause since Santorelli's been out we've played our worst hockey of the season. I think Hansen is expendable. Wouldn't mind possibly moving him for a decent prospect. Or a pick if need be. Knowing Gillis we get a 4th and retain salary,
