Rush17
If we were to try and pry Evander Kane off of WPG what do you think it would take if Elder was the center-piece? VANCOUVER: Evander Kane WINNIPEG: Alex Elder Would this do it? Or would adding a redundant roster piece finish it off? Higgins etc. (Heard the suggestion on Team 1040 talking about Evander Kane being a good player for us to add to our top 6) Figured I would have a little fun :D That is if we dont want to keep Edler which we may. canucks155
GREAT DEAL FOR US. WPG doesn't need Edler. If they were to trade Kane, it would probably be for some1 younger than him or his age, prospects. Even if WPG was a playoff team, they'd probably say no anyways bcuz of all the question marks surrounding Edler's play.

Rush17
Having him return to Vancouver and being close to family could be what he needs to reset his life and career. Kid has undeniable talent. Just a suggestion I heard on 1040 Scott Rintoul show. :D I think he could be a good fit if he could fix his off ice non sense and poor attitude. Seguin managed to turn things around could be a good option for us if Linden could turn him around. If anyone could Linden would be the man. Likely an idol for Kane as a youngster. He may not remember the 94 playoffs but he remembers the impact he had on the team and I am sure he knows all the history of Linden :D Thought I would throw it out and see if we could look at possible value. I am indifferent either way but he could be a great pickup if we can fix his attitude. :D

Mr.53
Edler is not going anywhere. Whether we like it or not, these players have ntc. If they don't want to leave, which none of them do, they won't unless we really push for it. Most likely, next year, 5 of our top 6 defencemen will be back and not be moved. 2 of them with ntc and want to stay here and play in their home of BC, (Hamhuis, Garrison) 1 of them has stated he wants to retire here, (Bieksa) and the other has stated he just signed an extension and has no interest in leaving. (Edler) Then there is Tanev, who should not be traded unless the return is HUGE. I think a more realistic package would focus around Jacob Markstrom or Eddie Lack. Most likely, we will keep Eddie Lack on his new extension, which means we could build a package around a great young goaltender to Winnipeg who is kind of in need of goaltending help. Say you hand them a package of Markstrom (good 24 year old goaltender who could very well be a stud), Jordan Schroeder (small but quick with good hands and vision. Could be a great depth guy for them), and a second round pick (should be pick 36-40, which actually has some value.). Maybe add a piece here or there and I think we got a deal. Goalies are always a little more valuable as, a quality goaltender is rare, yet a quality goaltender can make more break a team. Plus, with their first round pick, they can probably pick up a young offensive stud anyway as they should be picking top 6-10 (right now they are at 7 I believe) can pick a young offensive stud who could potentially take Kanes spot in the next few years. If management doesn't like his attitude, then bring him here. Great for our youth movement and a change of scenery could have a Tyler Seguin affect on him, especially since he would be coming back to his hometown. It's possible. ForsbergTheGreat
Realistically they wouldn't want a declining assets for someone who hasn't even grown into his full potential yet. If they are looking for a return from vancouver in Kane it would revolve around a Kassian ++ or Tanev ++. But honestly there are teams with far better deals to offer them than vancouver. Think similar to the Bobby Ryan deal. Silfverberg, Noesen and a 1st Kanes isn't quite the player ryan is yet but he could be his value wouldn't be too far off as he's a lot younger. Something along the lines of a: Kassian, Gaunce, 3rd or possibly a 2nd And personally I don't think it's in Van best interest to make a deal like that
thad
What do you guys think it would take though. I really dont know. Despite all the attitude stuff you hear, he's still a blue chip young asset that will grow into a premier winger in this league. I think i remember hearing talk a while ago theyd be willing to give him up to acquire a young centre with first line potential. we just dont have that. i think the deal has to start with one of our best young assets because thats what he is to them. One of Horvat Kassian Tanev +.
Rush17
Packages based around Horvat or Kassian for Kane would be worth it imo. Perhaps a goaltender like TheLiveWire eluded too. I feel very confident in Markstrom s potential but perhaps I am just a fan boy. Obviously Lack would stay if we were to move one of them. Definitely worth a good discussion. Hansen might be of interest too them too in a package. Tanev s poise is unreplaceable and our depth on d is shallow with our aging vets. Much rather move one above. Pref first 1 of first 2. I think Horvat has something special in him but so does Kane. Imagine Kane with the Sedins....

Just simply because it would take a package around those players and i think the future possibilities of what that package consists of, and the player kassian or horvat could become may outweigh what one player brings, even if it is evander kane. I think kassians offensive vision and toughness could compliment our first line very well someday. He may very well put up the points kane does playing in that role. Add to that the first round pick or whatever it takes isnt something i personally want to give up. I actually think Tanev would be a better choice if we were to trade for him. I share your thoughts on how poised he is but losing that doesnt mean it wont be replaced by a guy with a great shot or serious toughness down the road. Still i would be hesitant depending on what is in the package with him but i would give him up before i gave up kassian or horvat. Both guys have some star potential. komodo1970
What do you guys think it would take though. It would take what it always takes to get a young player with great, unrealized potential. Huge overpayment. Something like: Kesler Shinkaruk 1st rnd pick
