Playoff barometer

Will the regular season play of the Canucks against playoff teams be a tell of how far those teams go in the playoffs? Will Anaheim and San hose go far while St Louis and Colorado exit early? Take Vancouvers record against the the contenders into account. Losing to the Canucks could be a sign of things to come!

I think Colorado is an underdog, no one has even put them in the Stanley Cup conversation even though they're one of the top teams in the league.

My dream finals is Anaheim vs Montreal

Your dream has it wrong. Sub Tampa for the habs. Your welcome!

Seriously though, I like Anaheim to go deep this year. St. Louis if they get Backes and Oshie back healthy in time for playoffs and Miller doesn't suck. Chicago if Kane and Toews are legit healthy too, otherwise, each team will be rather blah against other western teams, even healthy 7/8 seeds in my opinion.

Id love to see a philly and montreal in the east final, Colorado and Chicago in the west. Though its likely going to be Anaheim coming out of the west me thinks

A final 4 of teams that aren't your typical "playoff tough"? Uh oh, I feel another Canucks franchise shift in the works. We never did get tough and play like Boston, so now the new model is...

Colorado vs Chicago would be a great series.

St. Louis is cruising in to the playoffs barely playing .500 hockey recently. They are a lot like the Canucks, or Sharks, and unless they have something magical happen to them in round 1, I see another early exit.

Hawks are banged up, and even if Toews and Kane return, are they 100% healthy, and will they make a difference coming in out of game shape? I could see the AV's knocking them out, leaving the door open for the Kings, otherwise maybe the Sharks actually make it out of the West. But I still like the AV's as a team that doesn't know what losing feels like. They might go as far as the West finals like the Hawks recently did their first year in the playoffs.

In the East I'll wait and see what the matchups are, but I like the Wings upsetting anyone they play in the first round.

St. Louis has had a rough week and a half or two for sure. The Sharks have a very good team this year, but I wouldn't put money on them based on past years performances. As for the Hawks, Kane has only been out 3 weeks, that's nothing to someone who is in shape. He was skating last weekend already too getting a feel for his knee. Toews? Christ, he has only missed 3 games or something. Hardly a stamina breaker. A few months would be a completely different story.

I will say one thing without bias: anyway we dissect it the West is the badass NHL conference yet again. And yet again Boston is the only team that should frighten anyone. Goaltending, defence, offence, toughness. I hate them. They are the team to beat in the East though without a doubt.
