nitwitt
Ok guys its been a while since I've proposed a trade. I, like a lot of Canuck fans could foresee this year unfolding like it has and have been calling for M.G. to be fired for a couple of years now, he took a team that was considered by most to be a favorite to win the Cup too complete irrelevance. Very, very sad, he in fact is hockey's Stu Jackson. Obviously Tort's has to go! He has no buisness coaching that crappy hockey style in any hockey market, it's absolute non-entertainment. He only knows how to coach that way, the players hate him, the fan's hate him, the media has swung around as well. So Tort's should be toast. Linden loves this core, he knows the peices are in place, he just has to add/supplement them with legit top 6 guys. In order to this he will have to make at least 2 big moves. He will sit down with key players like Kesler, Bieksa, Hammer and the Sedins to confirm that they 100% in. Then comes the fun, He will pull a massive deal at the draft with Toronto, as Shanny will be looking to address T.O's needs- Defence! So deal one will look something like this: Edler, Schroeder and 2015 1st for JVR This deal helps Toronto out immensely, Edler slips into their 1st pairning with Phaneuf and legitimizes that D in T.O. They also get a decent young speedy player who could play center but more likely LW and a coveted 2015 1st. Vancouver gets a legit top 6 power forward that could play on Kesler's LW and don't forget an American teammate. I think we can all see that Jensen has arrived and needs to have a top 6 roll much like the Sedins got when they arrived. This line actually gives me shivers to think of the speed, tenacity and skill. Hello first line! The second trade is impactfull as well: T.Brouwer for Higgins, Hansen This deal gives Washington two legit forwards that can play the left side as they really only have one LW. Higgins doesn't leave a big production drop off and Hansen helps that 3rd line. Brouwer is the perfect fit with the Sedins, he's a proven 20 goal scorer and would more than likey have career years playing with the Twins, 30-35 goal years. He's 28 years old, he's 6'3" and 215 lbs and loves smashing the crap out of other teams(no less then 200 hits per season), which benefits the slower Sedins by creating room which is the single biggest issue the Sedins face. Hello line 2! Now, this leaves Burrows on the left side his natural fit with Matthais and Kassian, this line has serious potential to be one of the best third lines in the NHL(just my opinion), Burrows will regain form(22 goals), Matthais looks very sound as a third line center and Kassian is looking to be scrathing the surface and could very well have worked his way onto the first line by season's end on the right side making that first line looking like a power forward bonanza! Very LA'esque. But for the meantime he's on the third balancing the line out beautifully. Resign Santo, Richardson and without a doubt either Horvat, Gaunce or Shinkaruk makes the team on the fourth line. My preference is Hunter as this kid will be one of the best pure snipers the Canucks will ever have. With Santo's blazing speed he and Hunter would be speed matched and Richardson is that perfect "Swiss" pocketknife player that every great team needs. This folks would be the one of the teams to beat in the West, I think they would be no less then 5th in the West. The last ingredient is signing a puck moving D-man or trading for one. Potentially the JVR deal could include that as long as the Canucks sweeten the deal. Thoughts...
HunterHorvatBure
I wouldn't give up the 1st in 2015, way too valuable man. Edler might still surprise people as well. I want to get my hands on an Eberle if I'm giving up all that AND Schroeder. Schroeder will slot in perfectly in EDM. Edit : if a coach plays any of our top prospects on our fourth line like you suggested with Horvat and Shink etc...fire him and re-hire torts. Horvat and Shinkaruk are too valuable for the fourth line.
TheRussianRocket.
Like it, well thought out. JVR is a beast so even though our 2015 1st has more value than 2014 1st, idk if Leafs would want the 2015 cause if they're losing JVR, they'd want pieces that can help them asap. They already have such a weak offensive group, taking away JVR would almost abolish their forward scoring but if it was a 2014 1st, they might be better off and draft a high end scorer to replace him with possibly. If I'm Canucks I do it, not so sure about TO. Caps deal is solid. We get rid of 2 redundant players for 1 better player who's cap adds up to be less than Higgy and Hansen. Makes sense as Caps could use them and Canucks clear up a forward roster spot for a prospect/via trade/via FA. Good move. I think both teams would do it here. Brouwer is also a Vancouver boy, added bonus and you can't have enough of those.

Your bias is beyond reproach so there is little point in trying to discuss it with you. This team is not a contender. I believe if Linden is fair minded , he will admit this. There is no tinkering with it to produce a team capable of making it out of the first round. Its just hoping against hope. We need to rebuild. Lindens job is to rebuild the team while still convincing the ticket holders we have a playoff team using our young guns.

CanuckFanForever1123
I say hell no to deal 1, and no to deal 2. First and foremost, stop trying to give up that 1st next year! We are a rebuilding team, that might have another top 10 pick next year, in what looks to be a potentially great draft. We may get someone better than JVR next year if we are patient. And if we have a great season next year then so be it, and obviously we didn't need JVR. I'm ok moving Schroeder. He's the new Grabner. You love him and want him to succeed, but he just wont make it with this team period. But I refuse to move that first, and moving Edler just doesn't seem smart right now, unless the return is amazing. JVR is good, but until he proves hes elite, its not worth it. Edler was great until this season, which I think was basically the crappy system and coaching of Torts. I think with a new coach next year, he will produce like we thought he could. We all want a puck moving d-man with a good shot. Well, that's Edler, and I think he finds his game this summer. Deal 2 to me is just unproductive. Sure, Brouwer is another Burrows type, but Higgins and Hansen are still really quality cheap third line players. They also play very well together and I think putting them with Matthias in the middle next year with a new coach and a healthy team will make them dangerous again. I think that if Burrows is no longer the guy for the Sedins, the right guy is out there, but for me, it isn't Brouwer.

Baka
JVR is a better diver than Greg Louganis.......pass Why would that be your reason for passing? Nearly every star in the NHL dives including an overwhelming amount of current Canucks players. No to Crosby? No to Ovechkin? No to Giroux? Everyone dives. thad
well thought out and nicely written proposal man. The only thing i dont like is giving up the 2015 first. If we didnt tank so bad this year I would be all for it. I actually think we'll turn it around next year and be better but with so much change coming it could really go either way. Giving up that pick could be catastrophic. Phil Kessel has been good for toronto but one has to wonder what theyd look like if they had the patience to build the right away through the draft and not jump the gun to desperately make the playoffs. Being a bubble team and trading your first round picks is a terrible move. Especially in a year with a kid as highly touted as mcdavid projected first overall and an american kid who some say is just as good going second. Im sure you probably expected a bunch of dont trade the first round pick replies haha but yeah If you can get the deal done any other way id be very interested. The second deal i dont really mind but i think the value is a little off. Hansen and Higgins are both pretty consistent players and Higgins just had a great year even though the team sucked. Had the team played better he would have had an even better year. I still like the deal just for the sake of change though. The old saying dont make a trade just to make a trade I fully support but thats before we came inches away from rock bottom haha I like how you didnt try to fleece both teams but i think you gave them too much. JVR is a great young player but i think you undervalued Edler. I think Edler Schroeder 2nd should be enough from our side. Both teams are adressing needs, i dont think a first round pick is necessary.
Wiznac
With 2015 projected to be such a deep draft I would not be willing to trade 1st or 2nd round picks next year

nuck in cow town
Edler and Phaneuf solidify their #1 defensive pairing? Who's actually playing defence with that pairing? That entire team is a minus, next to Gunnarson +12, Phaneuf is a solid +2....don't get me wrong I wouldn't want Phaneuf on any of my teams but I doubt Nonis is looking for a strong dman at -36 to shore his team D. No matter how bad a year Edler had, it doesn't get better in TO....

It would if this happened look something like Schenn for Edler wouldn't it?
