Virtanen is IMO the best pick after 5, a local kid from Abbotsford, plays in the WHL and is a power forward goal scorer. Exactly what the team needs from a PR perspective.

We dont need PR we need help

We need to get away from the idea that all we need are power forwards.

We need 'creative players', one's who can handle the tough areas but can also create, move the puck, carry it with speed, and make players miss...

Just having David Booth clones will not help us. Not suggesting thats what Virtanen is, as I have not seen him play, but descriptions constantly say the same things and that worries me.

Pure snipers unless he's at the level of a Hull or Selanne/Mogilny need set up men, and heck even those guys needed set up men.

There's a reason we get 40 shots a game and only one goal, its because we take shots from bad areas because we dont have the creative players to get players the puck in their wheelhouse in good / high percentage areas.

Personally, I would like to see use get a more creative offensive player than a power forward this year.

If you watch where Kassian and Henrik put the pucks for guys, it puts them in positions to score. That's why wingers with Henrik score so much , even if they aren't the most offensive (Burr/and the list of others prior).

Look at the amount of chances Richardson is getting with Kass. Now I love Richie, but perhaps its time to put a player who plays like Richie, but with hands, on Kassian's line and move Richie back to 4th. Regardless, hopefully you get my point.

The set up man is usually more important than the sniper, because the set up man often puts a player in a great spot to score, so much so, that he doesn't really need to be a sniper.

Just my thoughts

I think 6th overall is a little high to take a player like Ritchie/Virtanen/Perlini. Brendan Perlini is probably the best sniper of those 3 but he had a weak showing in the OHL playoffs

I think our best option is to trade up in the draft and take any of the top 5. I don't think there's any way we could go wrong picking in the top 5. All 5 of them look like 1st line/top pairing players
