clutesi
The Whitecaps' fans have an arrangement with fans in Portland and Seattle to have a fan based, informal cup for the best team in the Pacific Northwest. It's called the Cascadia Cup. Why not a fan based award for the best NHL team in Western Canada? We talk about who is the best in Western Canada, why not a cup? I realize Bettman wouldn't allow it because he couldn't control it.
hockeyville88
Maybe then we'd finally win a Cup.... I don't think the idea would catch on much with fans because, in hockey, there is only one Cup anyone covets. I mean, players don't even celebrate when they win the Presidents Trophy or the Conference Finals. It's a good idea in theory because it works for soccer, but IMO, hockey is just different culturally. If it ain't Stanley, we don't want it! BanTSN
Hoser Cup or Loser Cup?
Ghostsof1915
No. We already have an 82 game schedule, we don't need a meaningless cup to add to it. I've never understood why soccer that has 40 league games, then cup play, and on top of it, the top teams play in the Champions league. Is it so they can play close to 80 games??? BenDrinkin
Let's just look at the NHL standings and choose which team wins. Oh look, Winnipeg won. …danm, I just realized Winnipeg finished ahead of us. What a crazy season.

HockeyHound93
Being slightly better than the Alberta teams isn't exactly something to be proud of. Losing would still be disappointing though.

YaK
Hockey fans don't want anything that they perceive as diminishing the prestige of "THE" Cup. I'd sort of hoped that the Victoria Cup would catch on and be contested between NHL and European champions but Stanley Cup proponents felt that would decrease the value of their trophy. I don't disagree but I think it would be good for growing the game on a global scale.
