PlayStation
Torts taking a lot of the blame, not blaming players. Keeps blaming himself. But said the whole feeling of the team was stale since day one, needs more youth, teams getting old, needs change. Also lack of depth.
TheRussianRocket.
Torts saying all the right things. As hard as it is to say it that this and this is a bad part of the team, he's on the money and isn't hiding anything. Good sign and he's taking onus for things. PlayStation
On the question on if it was his choice to send down Horvat, Shinkaruk etc. Did he say no it wasnt his choice, it was all management? Then after retracted it saying no they needed to go play? Was a bit distracted at the time, but I think thats what he said. Anyone care to clear it up? Ends the interview on "core needs to change"

hockeyville88
Say what you will about Torts .. he is a man of honesty and good intentions .. I like him very much, regardless of his future with our team. Absolutely agreed. He cares passionately and sometimes that's misconstrued. He just said the exact opposite of what the players said. They said the core does not need to change in that this group still has what it takes to get the job done. Then Torts came in and said the core needs to be changed. They are too old and stale. Trevor has some big decisions to make. Either the coach stays or the core stays. Doesn't look like both will work given the different philosophies of each
HunterHorvatBure
As much as I dislike Torts, he's on the ball for all of these things. -core needs some change -Need to surround the core players with enthusiasm (youth) -needs to do a better job of getting through to some players (Edler) -core is stale

Where's Wellwood
Bieksa is such a good speaker. I want him to be captain but I don't want to remove the captaincy from Hank.

It's like they're more interested in collecting a paycheck. We definitely need to get younger players who still play for the love of the game

Then Torts came in and said the core needs to be changed. They are too old and stale. Trevor has some big decisions to make. Either the coach stays or the core stays. Doesn't look like both will work given the different philosophies of each He said the core is VERY good, and it does need some change. He isn't saying to strip the team down of the Sedins and Kesler and the D-core and start over. He stated multiple times that the core needs to be surrounded with some enthusiasm, ie. youth. This is that fine line I guess where Torts gets misunderstood for being too honest.

These guys are competitors like anyone else, and after 2 losing seasons I wouldn't be surprised that any of these guys have a chip on their shoulders. They know their play affects everything. More young players definitely as they add different looks/dynamic to the team but the vets know how to play reliable hockey and you need that on any competitive team (look at EDM as a counter example).
