Swedish elite3
Would be nice to have the farm closer to the team, but damn Utica has had some fun exciting hockey to watch this year I think from following the comets a bit.. The fans don't deserve to watch the flames trash
Kanucklehead10
Finally. This way the travel time is much easier on the prospects coming up and down the lineup. Great news...if true.
Southpop45
Watch the Abbotsford Comets sell more tickets than the Canucks next season so true, i live in abbotsford and i know for a fact nobody went to the games cause it was calgarys farm team, have a feeling after the comets relocate here the $1 hotdog and $2 beer special will be all but gone
From.The.Point
I would definetly make the trip out to Abbotsford to watch OUR farm team, especially the way our prospects are coming up. Even if they double the hot dog / beer deal its still a steal.
TheRussianRocket.
Awesome news if this turns out to be true...will be buying tickets undoubtedly. To see our future play here at home, that's something special and at times I enjoy more than the NHL squad tbh.
Guest
Awesome news for us. I do feel for Utica though, they love our team there. As happy as they'll be to have AHL there at all, they seem pretty attached to our guys
Mr.DirtyDangles
If this is real WOW ! This would be huge for the rookies to be so close, more call ups on regular basis. Pinch me ........
Glory_Days
Only went to see the Heat twice, both times it was the Canucks farm team playing, Kassian scored a BEAUTY of a goal in the shoot-out.
Tom Sestito
Terrible. The prospects will be scrutinized while it seemed to be a good mesh in Utica. They had a great connection with the community there and just got to play. But, the Utica fans thought it was coming after the walls and things were being painted black a few weeks ago. elvis15
Just to be clear, I haven't heard any indication at this point that Utica will be coming back to replace them. I did hear one mention of a team in the East coming back, but there wasn't anything specifically mentioned about the Comets and the rumours I have heard about the Heat are that they'd be moving to Glenn Falls. The other possibility is after year 5 of the agreement with Abbotsford, the city can review the agreement so there may be something with that being renegotiated or the city dumping it altogether and the Heat just leaving with no replacement. Cant just have an empty building there. I have been to alot of games there and I am 1000% sold on watching hockey there. The entertainment and pep squads are fantastic. Great bang for the buck. Just pls dont raise ticket prices.

This,,,, it isn't a swap. The Heat are going to an entirely different town. It does kind of give the Canucks the hammer in negotiations. Abbotsford was stupid last year, they wouldn't give the Canucks the samed deal they gave the Heat. The mayor is clearly not a hockey fan because he said, it really has no bearing on attendance whether who we are the farm team for... people know that young players move teams all the time anyways". If they had the baby Canucks there, attendance would be better.... simple fact. It would mean that the taxpayers would have to subsidize less or even nothing at all to the team as their revenues would be much higher. Don't know what sort of lease we made with Utica... they would be left with an empty building if we moved, so I assume they have some sort of contract. The only question is whether the goodwill of moving the team here is worth the cost to break that contract.
Saskatchewan Canucks Fan
I feel bad for the Utica fans. I'm sure they were expecting their new team to be around longer than a year

zombieksa
I feel bad for the Utica fans. I'm sure they were expecting their new team to be around longer than a year I would feel even worse for Utica fans if Abbotsford moves to Glen Falls and we move back to Abbotsford. I don't believe for a second that FAQ wouldn't swoop in the moment the building was vacated. There is a possibility of no hockey in Utica next season, me thinks.
