If Linden had any balls and sense he would retain Torts and listen very closely to what he (Torts) is saying. Out core is old and stale and they need to ne surrounded by YOUTH ala the San Jose model. Failure to do this type of "retool", as well as hiring a new coach will simply mean that we are going to do and say all of this all over again at the same time next year after another season of not making the playoffs.

Another torts thread.

Poll:

Locked or unlocked?

Oh good, I was just thinking that we really needed another Torts thread.

Well, you got what you wished for.

But really, OP. You could stand to have searched at least a bit for this one.

Seriously, give it rest with trolling and stirring it up around here. You attack someone over what you consider a misleading thread title about Quinn.

I think Gillis will be enough for this year. My money is on Torts staying. Agree that Torts knows how to win a cup, and you can't argue with what he said today either. All true and CERTAINLY needs to be addressed. (about the core aging and getting stale)

I still think Torts is gone. Trying to secure the exact GM that Trevor wants and then telling him 'by the way, Torts will be staying on' just won't fly. Why would someone like Benning agree to come on with a restriction like that?

Clear the dance floor and tell the band to strike up a new number.

I think he stay for two reasons. The least of which is that Torts didn't fall of the turnip truck yesterday and forget how to coach hockey, he's proven he can win. The other, and more important half is that if they really believe this is a rebuild, even if it is only minor, you don't bring in a new coach right away under the new GM. If they're rebuilding you can almost count next year as a lost year, so there is no point in bringing in a new coach. Torts would get used as a scapegoat for year 1, a free pass for the new GM. Then you slide Torts out in year 2, and slide in the new guy and as long as he maintains or gets better than Torts last year then he looks good and the new GM comes out smelling like roses.

I agree on Linden wanting to keep Torts as a time buying measure but i think the new GM whoever it is might have the final say and i wouldnt be surprised if he kept the status quo for the beginning.

i hope they keep Tortorella but this organization likes to throw away people that fight for them.
