Kane that involved a 1st rounder and top prospect, such as, Hunter Shinkaruk. From what I know the WHL is a hard-nosed, grinding type of league making the games modestly tight and physical, implying players must be well-rounded to survive. I'm not a hundred percent positive on how accurate I am but in response to what I've been told I think Shink has put up phenomenal numbers. Not to mention, that his 2013-14 season he was playing injured but still managed to play at almost a point-per game pace. **source that mentions him playing injured: http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Canucks+prospect+Hunter+Shinkaruk+team+future+while+recovering+from+surgery/9637636/story.html For those who argue that he is small and will have trouble putting up numbers in the NHL, isn't the NHL also a pretty hard-nosed, tight, and physical game? I understand that players in the NHL are more skilled and strong but still...look at his numbers. He's doing this at his current size and will inevitably get larger. Lastly, when I saw this guy play in the pre-season his footwork and shot accuracy were mind-boggling, I mean it could've been a fluke goal that he scored on SJ in the pre-season; but wow was it a beautiful fluke. I just feel like this guy is better than what most believe. Thoughts?
Junkyard Dog
Somewhat. But a year injured really hurts his development. Hopefully he can bounce back.
zombieksa
He got passed on in both his WHL and NHL drafts because teams thought he was a shrimp. You could tell how hurt he at Calgary didn't pick him. I think the kid is going to be an absolute beaut.

I'd consider him slightly underrated and it being due to his injury. Those injuries that early on can really take it's toll on players. Let's hope that's not the case here. I feel you on the injuries it can hurt any players stock. EDIT: Do you think you would move him because of injuries though? I think his offensive potential has no ceiling. You might say I'm overrating him, but I haven't seen a player play like him and carry themselves in the manner he does in a long time. Such a positive attitude. Kanucklehead10
I think he could be in the top ten in this draft for sure. He has more points in his draft year than most of the top ten this year anyways. Definitely excited about him.
Junkyard Dog
That's true, but the injury aside he can be one hell of a sniper. Hunter needs a lot of time in the AHL. There he can get big minutes and be put in many roles. I doubt we see him make the jump to the NHL in the next couple of years unless miraculously he can find his game, get a bit bigger and improve quickly in that time. Hunter needs a solid 2 years in the minors. That is what is best for him.

Such a positive attitude. Nope, not a chance. Until he plays again and we see. Last thing you want is to trade him and he succeeds and getting labelled as an organization that gave up on him. His offensive skill + leadership is unreal. He's one hell of a package. I'm high on him too.

Idk where you got that conclusion from. Consensus was people were more shocked/surprised he never made it than anything. And that's not a knock on Shink, it was a knock on team Canada for not selecting him.

Malkin Cookies
Sad injuries set him back but I still think he will be a stud in the future for us. His attitude, compete level, he's not afraid to go into the dirty areas and his skill are promising.
