A California teenager emerged almost unharmed after flying to Hawaii hidden in an airplane wheel well, authorities said, in an incident that raised concerns about airport-perimeter security. The plane reached 38,000 feet during flight over the Pacific Ocean, which lasted five hours and 15 minutes, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware.com. The standard temperature at 38,000 feet is minus 78 degrees Fahrenheit, according to a Federal Aviation Administration report, though conditions in the wheel well are warmer. Mr. Simon said at least one person witnessed the boy climb down from the aircraft wheel well about an hour after the plane landed at Kahului Airport. Authorities interviewed the boy, who said he had lost consciousness shortly after takeoff. "He did not look like he had been to hell and back," he said. "He was disoriented and hungry." aeromotacanucks
I'm just wondering how many years in jail aeromotacs feels he should get for this. Glad you ask me about this. honestly since the FAA is an example about how civil aviation should be worldwide I´m shocked how this thing still happen in USA even after recent terrorists attacks (Boston) and many crazy teenagers shooting people on schools... the problem here is that isn´t only the boy´s fault but it´s the airport manager´s fault, the Hawaian Airlines´ fault, the ramp coordinator´s fault, security fault and of course the boy´s parents´ fault... as another user told here imagine if terrorists decide start do on the same way. "why gonna board the airplane as a passenger and go through all that hassle when I can just sneak into the plane´s landing gear and plant an explosive on it?" this is soo scaring I can even imagine you can´t think this normal... Where´s the San Diego International Airport security personel? they can´t see a boy jumping the airport fence? don´t they have cameras, sensors, lasers, guards? you know. the airport is very close to the Mexican border so it might be good have a good security around an international airport to avoid intruder aircrafts (drug dealer´s planes/durg trafficking plane´s) around there sneaking drugs/guns from Mexico to USA... secondly. where´s the Hawaian Airlines ramp managers? and where´s the Airport ramp manager? aren´t they supposed to check precisely these things? a landing gear is located on a very easy and normally calm area of the airplane, even the nose gear. the crew just check their state and done. what about a maintenance guy be there around the ground time to avoid some "cuco" decide have a free ride? or maybe Hawaian Airlines have a new coach class called "gear class". no boarding service, no bags, no comfort, no toilet, so safety at all? for cry out loud we do this in Brazil even on small airports how the hell it cannot be done in USA!? and how the hell a guy did this on an international airport??!! and the kid will not be charged? will not go to the jail? because of what? he´s under 18? or because he´s a completely moron? what about his parents? never teached him about serious things? that when you travel on a landing gear compartment of a B767 you can damage some cables/systems of the landing gear and during the landing procedure the gear may not extend and the plane may crash due to your lack of responsability? and due to that you may kill 300 people at once? really? honestly. that´s how FBI/CIA want keep terrorists out of USA? don´t charge the guy because he was lucky to survive? so tell this to illegal imigrants and possible terrorists. get an extreme ride to USA and if you survive that´s all right! if the guy isn´t happy with his parents go to Mexico. it´s right there! all freedom he wants and chicas! but you know. no I want go to the Hawai and for free! so call me extreme but some people must thank God that I don´t work on the FBI/CIA or things would be extreme... for the simple fact I don´t, in any condition, negotiate with terrorists. toerrorists are cowards that kill inocent people. terrorists don´t have balls to declare "open war" against a military force, better trained and qualified. so they will lose... so what terrorists do? attack inocents. kids, people living their own life. but you know. "the law" give too much right for terrorists. the jungle teached me that terrorists/bandits aren´t humans so laws and "human rights" are applied only for humans. for good and decent people... for terrorists/bandits. sorry for them. but you´re lucky because I don´t work for the FBI/CIA or you terrorists would consider Guantanamo a tropical (Cuban?) paradise compared with what I would do with these scum (terrorists). If I worked for the FBI/CIA... do you think FBI/CIA torture? see what I saw in the jungle and these terrorists will never claim "human rights" again. why terrorists are so afraid of the tropical jungle? so considering this I would give this sentence If I was in charge... boy: life imprisonment with forced labor without parole... wanna get a free ride dude? now you will get one. right to the jail to learn that If you want be extreme do extreme sports or date a prostitute, mary her and live in Las Vegas so you will have all the adrenaline you want for life... boy´s parents: life imprisonment with forced labor without parole... next time you teach a kid better teach them to do not be an inspiration for possible terrorists... for the San Diedo Airport Security manager, ramp manager (airport and airline): Death Penalty if a 16 years boy can do that imagine what a trained and determinated terrorist can do? it´s an international airport close to an international border! (Mexico) don´t you think the checks must be done better? I think so... Hawaian Airlines: US$ 300.000.000,00 fine there´s something called "qualification program/procedure". that we should do to improve the efficience of the company employees to avoid situations like this. if a boy can sneak into a B767-300 landing gear I´m wondering what else the airline is doing wrong. honestly I´m wondering how safe this airline is because if they can´t see a boy sneaking into te gear´s compartment and staying there for 5 hours how I can be sure about the passengers safety? don´t they have mechanicals to do the "before start/pushback checklist"? you know. the Pilots have this checklist so the ground staff also have a similar one. but looks like the airline isn´t interested to hire qualified people to do this job... You take terrorism seriously don't you? Apparently he ran away from home after a feud with his parents and somehow survived the 5 hour flight.. It was a fluke chance he even survived. Also even if a terrorista was even able to replicate the same situation as the teen I highly doubt he would be conscious enough to even cause damage. The teen was unconscious the whole time and was disoriented when he woke up after landing in Hawaii

Wow, good job you guys. and the worst thing is... YOU regular passenger who doesn´t do anything wrong, YOU who just want take your flight already delayed due to the other 121252363634 airplanes flying at the same time... yes you. YOU who must stay on the lines for the X-ray/TSA inspection, YOU who can´t get a single Red-Bull bottle to the plane because the TSA inspector say "it´s dangerous" even if you just bought it from the store on the airport... YOU taxpayer paying taxes on airport to improve the safety... a 16 teenager beat all the TSA and security and get a free ride to the Hawai because he had a "feud" with his parents... meanwhile YOU are still on the line for the TSA inspection. "funny" isn´t it?

aeromotacanucks
aeromotacanucks must be a troll. no way in hell anyone actually thinks that what´s the problem? just because I think fair give extreme punishment for bandits and terrorists I´m crazy? I´m sorry but as I said before and I say it even to Barack Obama. i DON´T NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS. plain simple.... when a teenager does this so it´s pretty sure this "boy" knew what he was doing. about he survived or not it´s a consequence BUT it doesn´t deny the fact he entered on a high security area not allowed for people without permition/qualification... oh yea. sure. it´s the most normal thing of all jump a fence of an international airport and sneak into a B767 landing gear for a free ride just because you had a "bad time" with your parents hein? no it´s not! want stop this mess give the example! make punishment harder and stronger. terrorists doesn´t deserve "human rights"! they deserve a slow and painfull death just like they caused to innocents! what´s wrong with kids in USA? just because it´s the "land of free" doesn´t mean you can do all crazyness you have! means you´re free to express yourself but face the consequences! first a girl make "jokes" with American Airlines, now this boy? geez. put these kids on my system for 1 month and they will be saluting the flag like soldiers and doing good stuff. wanna be crazy? extreme sports. at least you´re not put other people in danger... I saw/see too many deads in the damm jungle and I remember most of them. that wasn´t funny. I saw kids dying, baybies dying. for stupid things like a wife had sex with another man so her husband took his revenge People in North America think funny make games/jokes with other people´s lifes because everything in USA is easy! but I´m not! for me it´s not funny! you know? what´s wrong with these people today? life is a joke for them? let´s invade other countries for reasons we don´t know so it will cause more problem to USA? want end this mess? make and give the example! make the "jokers" pay for that on the hardest way and I guarantee it will not happen again! it doesn´t matter if it´s a terrorist or just some wacko trying to look cool on Facebook. democracy means freedom but also means responsability for what you do! give the strongest punishment for the 1st funny person and let´s see if it will happen again... Ghostsof1915
There is no accounting for Homeland Security, nor is there any stats on increased numbers of security guards, or agents. No transparency. Homeland Security in the US is a joke. Instead of abolishing the CIA because it's useless, and improving threat analysis, and actually hiring security officers to investigate ports of entry and exit. It's just more taxpayers money going to government bureaucracy.
