Goat James
It's with great pleasure that The Swedish Ice Hockey Association welcomes the legends Markus Näslund, Eje Lindström, Ulf Dahlén och Jonas Bergqvist into the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame. Eje Lindström, Ulf Dahlén och Jonas Bergqvist were elected by the election committee and Markus Näslund was elected by the people.http://www.swehockey.se/HockeyHallofFame/# It's not the biggest of deals but a little fun. The voting stood between him and Calle Johansson, so the fact that he won can't surprise anyone, although Näslund apart from a WJC almost always was a disappointment when playing for Team Sweden. Most Swedes don't watch NHL hockey all that much since the time difference is six to nine hours. So a lot of people didn't get to see what an amazing player Näslund was, a top five player in the world during his prime. The only thing they saw was him struggle for Team Sweden and him playing for MODO during the lockout where he didn't produce like he did in the NHL. (Much like the Sedins until they won gold for Sweden last year in the WC.) HOWEVER: MARKUS NÄSLUND WAS A GREAT HOCKEY PLAYER AND ONE OF THE BEST WE'VE EVER HAD!!!!!! HE WAS MY FAVORITE PLAYER GROWING UP AND I WISH THAT WE'D STILL HAVE HIM ON OUR TEAM!!!!!

Doesn't matter, 99 % of all Swedes see him as a mediocre player for Team Sweden. Sweden never placed higher than third place with him on the team. The Swedish Wikipedia article about him even says "I Tre Kronor har inte Markus Näslund varit lika framträdande som i sina klubblag." Which means "Näslund wasn't as good for team Sweden as he was with his NHL team." That's how the "International play" section starts off. Doesn't matter if you say that he was good, the common view in Sweden is that he underperformed.

tas
You're dumb. why? its not my fault that the common swedish perception of markus naslund is factually incorrect.

The way you post this almost sounds like its a joke that he was voted into the Swedish hall of fame, you make it sound like if it wasnt Calle Johansson he was up against he wouldnt have been voted in,also that it wasnt a big deal and his international play sucked..you should have a little pride that he was voted in and was one hell of a player. I would give my left gonad if we could have him back with the Canucks in his prime. Congrats Markus

Ghostsof1915
Had one of the best wrist shots in the NHL. Still can't believe we traded Stojanov for Naslund, 1-1. Congrats Markus!
