Fantasizing about freedom..

If you were given $50k, what would you do?

Travel?

Save it?

Put it to your mortgage?

Buy something nice?

Leave your significant other?

Something else?

So my friend got laid off recently and was given 8 months severance - i think around 50k. Everyone is trying to find her a job but she just wants to go traveling for the next 6 months.

It's sad she's lost her job but at the same time, it's like, you lucky bugger..

There are really a few places I would like to travel to, mostly in Europe and japan(for obvious nerdy reasons). So I doubt that I could go to all those places with that money. So i would probably invest half of it and then spend whatever is left. Maybe pay off a bill or two?

Or better yet get a bigger place and another furbaby! Gilly needs another brother or sister!

I already have a sizable nestegg so I would likely just use it on renovations at this point.

Cosmetic surgery. My beauty will know no limits.

ooo.. I like these ideas.

I have a few plumbing revamps and kitchen renovations I'd like to get done..

and maybe cosmetic surgery is the answer to some of my problems. Aren't there travel destinations that advertise a vacation and surgical procedures for a package cost? lol.

at least she got her severance, the weasel I worked for still hasn't payed up 6 years later. I'd make sure my debts and bills were payed and be searching for another job before making any plans for the money, it may be needed for living expenses.

what?! well, depending on how many years you were working for your employer, you should have gone to a lawyer to send him him a letter.

Go for the big rack. The kind you can put a whole set of encyclopedias on.

or a plate of salt and pepper wings..?
