infinitecarnage
we all know it got deleted throughout the whole internet couple of days ago. does anyone know the reason? is that attention wh**re ulrich got something to do with this? if that's the case, how is this video still on youtube? it's been almost a year p.s.: the video that's been deleted and the one below were made by cbc, not by a youtuber. that's why i didn't understand how there could be a copyright issue

Dogbyte
i know it's a different song, but they're both metallica's, that's why i'm asking I totally get you buddy. These guys are dolts. I'm not sure why it was taken down. Probably that douche Ulrich cause you wouldn't want people to enjoy a hockey opening without somehow making money on it. Whatever it was it was a terrific opening. Brought chills to my spine.

If your thread had actually made any sense people would have had a clue what you were actually talking about. Who posted the original video? You? What does the video say if you go to it now? If it was removed due to copyright violations then there'd typically be a notice at the video link to that effect. If the person who posted it took it down then it just wouldn't be there any more. if it's a copyright issue forced by metallica, then it should've been deleted immediately just like the new one. That assumes they knew about it immediately. It's not like Metallica have a fancy computer setup somewhere to scan all new videos on the internet for traces of any copyrighted material so that they can find out within milliseconds and take action... If it actually was a copyright issue, then perhaps they only found out about it a couple of days ago. I mean how long did M A K A V E L I 96 last making his videos before someone made a stink about it?

elvis15
Consider you gave little to no information on where the video came from (people do their own opening/pump up videos all the time) can you see how it'd be very, very easy to not know what you're talking about? You even have a video in the OP posted from Youtube (not from the CBC account either, but someone named Looler27) that isn't obvious without watching it that it's from CBC. Still, if it was on Youtube originally and it was a copyright violation you'd have the notice where the video should play unless it was taken down by CBC first. And if it was taken down by CBC you'd have a pretty good avenue to ask about why they did so rather than rant and rave on here about Lars Ulrich and his copyright crusade - even though you yourself have updated the OP to note how it's not likely to be a copyright issues since it's a CBC video. So, why are you here and what exactly is this thread about? Is it really just "why was the video removed"? If so, go ask CBC.

Normally I am not surprised by how stupid people are on this forum but this time I am a little baffled. I know it's been a while since you posted this but I just wanted to say your post made total sense to me and I do not understand how someone could have been at all confused. You were asking why the latest CBC intro was taken down and if it had been because of copyright issues then why was a similar video from over a year ago still up on the same youtube account that also used a Metallica song. What you didn't mention and what should have been obvious for anyone not living in a hole is that these were CBC montages made and posted online by CBC/Tim Thompson. I've been curious about why this latest video was taken down myself as CBC pays in advance to use each song, some more than others according to an interview Thompson did with the National Post in May of last year. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/05/22/meet-the-man-behind-cbcs-nhl-playoff-montages/ "The songs he uses in the montages can cost a few thousand dollars to use. That total can add up over the course of the playoffs, which is why songs that might cost more to license can sometimes be held for more important games in a series, or when the most people will be watching." My guess is that it may have to do with the amount of money CBC paid to use the song. Perhaps they decided to only pay for the rights to use it on TV one time only instead of what they paid to use "Seek and Destroy" which maybe included online use? CBC just got rid of a bunch of employees because of budget cuts and it wouldn't surprise me at all if that had something to do with this video not being available to be seen online. That's my best guess although there are youtube lyric videos of several Metallica songs that are posted by regular youtube users and I can't imagine any of them paying Metallica money to put up some crapty lyric video. I sent off an email to someone working Metallica's website in hopes of getting some clarification on what happened and will post the response if I get any. I think the CBC opening montage's are one of the best parts of the playoffs and get me fired up for every game. For those of you who still have no idea what we are talking about have a look at some of these classics. www.youtube.com/embed/vJxvgMEK2Zg www.youtube.com/embed/QUBa1nRCldE www.youtube.com/embed/ZpeNt51Ul2c
