Blueline Waiting List Folks: Did you get an opportunity at season ticket conversion and will you?

Got an e-mail today informing me I have a chance to convert my blueline waiting list to a full season ticket. I'm still thinking about it but most likely i'll pass and i'll just stay on the list. I love the Canucks but don't want to support this ownership with no respect. Especially with these sky high prices (at least they didn't raise them). Also, i think it'll be hard to sell and breakeven on season tickets this year, what do you think?

Did anyone else get a conversion opportunity? Are you going for the season tickets?

Yea, if your idea was to get a season pass and sell some/majority of the tickets off for a profit for the season after, those days are gone. Team has significantly declined as we know and scalpers are losing money selling their tix from what I've seen which means you'll have the same luck....days of getting profits are practically gone unless someone buys them 5+ days before the game. Closer to that, no buyers = lower the price = below face value = no profit.

...I'm thinking of getting a 12 game package

Are you an existing sth?

I have 3 season tickets, and was on the blueline to add a forth.

My email told me I can take an extra seat when I go to the relocation.

May 12-14.

Yes I will be taking it.

I don't understand the point of joining the waiting list and paying, if you don't want seats.

Did you think the Canucks would keep winning, the whole city Canuck crazy, yet somehow you move up on the list? The only way people on the waitlist would get tickets in the next decade, is if the team had a bad year or two. Now that this has happened people bulk at tickets??

So Op, you love the team so much, you're passing on the season tickets after waiting?

Or you love money, so you want to sell the tickets to the games you don't want to go and keep the rest?

Sounds to me you love money, not the team. A real Canucks fan will support the team through thick and thin.

Show's what kind of fans we have that buy season's tickets.

I'd at least go for an offer of half-season tickets or at least Ice Packs.

Bingo... I have friends who have wanted seasons for years and years. Waiting for the 'call' and now they waffle. Get it done.

Not a question of if I'm a Canucks fan or not. The reality is that I live in Toronto now so a full season package would be unrealistic for me as I would have to sell most of the tickets for sure. I'd rather try to go to a couple games when I'm back home in Vancouver and sell the rest to break even but considering where the Canucks are going and decline in ticket prices this would be next to impossible at current face prices.

I've decided to go for the Half Season or Ice Pack this time around.

It looks like a lot of people are not renewing their season tickets this season so a lot of people on the blueline waitlist are getting a shot at them.

What a pile of judgemental horse crap, please feel free to spend my money as well as the OP's. Thousands of dollars involved and some anon. dude on the other end of a keyboard is yaking about what to do, with someone else's cash.

I have an ice pak and got this email. 41 games is too expensive and time consuming for me. I am going to ask if I can get half season

Ha, I just downgraded to an Ice Pack and if we don't go into a full on rebuild soon I'll have to contemplate giving them up all together :mad: .

how long is the waiting list? for anyone who has been waiting?

Nobody really knows for sure, the Canucks don't say, and anything you hear is speculation.

I have had season tickets a long time. My friend signed up on the waiting list 8 years ago.

He was offered an icepack in about 3 years, but he declined as only garbage seats like back row lower bowl were left. Got his upperbowl seats the next year. He hasn't been offered halfs or fulls since.

He also didn't get this email.....

But me, I have had 3 seats for a long time, and at last years seat relocation I tried and tried to get 4, but they wouldn't let me, but they signed my up for 1 seat on the waitlist. The girl sort of hinted that I would get it for the next year.

I still don't get people giving them up. The renewal rates have been high the last few years. So I'd say 90-95% of current season ticket holders, were season ticket holders during the cup run. So we all know how much these things are worth in good times. Jesus, gave 5 and 7 against Boston.....I would never give these seats up, till the day I die, LOL. I think people the don't want to renew should just get upper bowl 4 seats for the year. $40 a piece, they will still sell fine on craigslist of whatever, if you have to sell some.

To be fair, I think you are overestimating how bad the Vancouver market gets when the team loses. It's not as easy as you make it sound. Upper bowl seats are actually $45 a piece with GST, including pre-seasons. And it takes a lot of time to sell tickets. You can't just sell tickets on craigslist and have weirdos meeting you all over the place. So you sell them on stubhub or wherever, and stubhub charges a 25% surcharge. That means for your tickets you need to sell them at around $60 to break-even. Some games sell for more, some less. Even stubhub takes a lot of time though, because you need to upload the tickets, constantly monitor prices, etc. To sell games to 4 season tickets would almost be a part-time job in itself. And it the nucks bomb out of the gate and are out of the playoffs before half season, then I bet tickets go for $25 a piece on stubhub.

I got the email. I joined the Blueline in '05-'06, and I've been offered ice-packs the last two years, so that means my experience is that in seventh season after joining the list I got offered ice-packs and in the ninth season I got to buy seasons tickets. I expect that will shorten a bit for others over the next couple of years, but the population is increasing in size and the arena isn't, so I expect in the long run that will be a fairly average wait time.

I've also been buying a half-season of someone else's tickets for the last couple of years. Unfortunately, I've already committed to take those for next season. So, now I have to choose: wait to get my own tickets till '15-'16 or buy my own seats on top of the half-set I've already committed to for '14-'15. Which is pretty spendy. But as one of the prior posters said, the time to buy is when they are having a rough time on the ice, so now is the perfect time to try to get some decent lower bowl seats with my name on them. I'm concerned that if I wait till next season, the choices will decrease again.

So, I expect I'm going to have tickets for 61 home games next year. Stubhub here I come.

  • 2 weeks later...

How long has everyone been on the waitlist and hasn't got season tickets? I signed up on the waitlist in 2010, got 1/2 seasons in 2012/2013 during the lockout, and upgraded to full seasons the season after.

Got them in 2 years wait. 14 years ago.

To be fair, I think you are overestimating how bad the Vancouver market gets when the team loses.

See above. How long have you had yours. What years were sales bad?

I assume you meant underestimating?

The Canucks have made the playoffs 10 of the last 13 seasons. They missed 05/06, then 07/08, then 13/14.

After the Canucks missed in 05/06, fans lost faith in the team. But the next year, the Canucks came back, won their division, and went to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Fans came back.

After the Canucks missed the 07/08 season, fans again lost faith in the team. But guess what... the next year, the Canucks came back, WON their division, and went to the 2nd round of the playoffs again!

So... long story short... if the Canucks come back next year, win their division, and go to the 2nd round of the playoffs, then we've got no problem. But if they miss the playoffs this coming year, then fan support will fall to a low not seen since 1998-1999. Mark my words.
