Caboose
Personally, I think it's retarded if we have 12 1st line wingers or 6 top-pair LHD. A guy will request a trade if he's a top 4 playing on the bottom pair etc. I just never liked having to worry about centers playing wing because it happens in the NHL all the time. Just curious as to why that would be? I'm assuming that means for the most part teams will be about the same and there really won't be one team that is far better than another cause if they are, it'll likely mean they have lots of depth with good players playing in the bottom end lines who IRL probably wouldn't be...shouldn't you be rewarded for that though? I mean if you can draft a sensational d group/forward group and you're basically requested to traded a few players here and there cause you have too much depth, looking at the big picture, doesn't that mean almost all teams will have near the same talent cause you'll be requested to trade to teams that need that depth and really what it does is balance the entire league out which has it's pros and cons. I'm honestly not a fan of it but will follow through if that's what the league wants. I mean if you can put together tons of depth and a stacked team in certain positions (defense/offense), I say let it be and reward the GM for what he's done. That's generally how the best fantasy team wins and how it works in RL too to an extent.

That's generally how the best fantasy team wins and how it works in RL too to an extent. If you look at past fantasy drafts, a stacked team is one that actually has 6 top 6 forwards and 4 top 4 defencemen and a starting goalie. Coming out of this draft I'll wager not a single team has that. Its just a way to keep it realistic.

I know what Caboose is trying to do though... he's trying to make it realistic, like if your 3rd pair consist of top 4 defenceman, such as Ryan Murray, and Tyler Myers then they're going to request a trade as they would likely do in real life. Similarly, if you have Gustav Nyquist or Ryan Callahan playing on the 4th line (6-8 minutes a game) they're also likely to request a trade. It rarely happens straight out of a fantasy draft, but more often happens after a trade occurs. For example in CDCFL I traded Drouin Tomas Plekanec, and he was forced to trade him to someone else because he was going to be playing a 3/4 C role. Realistically one or two trades makes you an elite level team. Lots of guys over trade and end up in cap trouble or just bad teams in general. Patrick Kane
St. Louis Blues select Mike Ribeiro. Lol, one of my gripes with the league (it's a fantastic league, I love it, I did the same thing when I ran RGMG) is having the draft run through free-agency. You get steals like this if it's on your pick and a free-agent signs. No skill required, just gift-wrapped into your hands. I'm just a little butt-hurt because I wanted Pittsburgh's pick yesterday, so I could select him. If I pulled it off, I would of looked like a god. (Caboose and Toews can verify this )

You can do lots of research but it will never guarantee anything. I dont mind, just unlucky I picked right before Ribs signed. Probably would have choosen him ovet Vinny considerong contract and player.

How articulated / urgent will these requests be if guys are being dis honoured with bottom 6 play? Ex) Lecavalier / Mike Richards / Danny Briere playing 4th line? In many cases when good players are playing depth roles its just a sign of a good team... Someone just picked Lecavalier for example. Good pick, he got 20 goals last year. And should a 14th round pick be in a position to complain... BTW, I'm not questioning the concept. Just putting up a test example to gauge how it will play out, so I can adjust. Secondarily, did we get a firm answer. I think we are drafting rounds deep enough to fill a farm club with team with team property; does that mean 50 rounds same as number contracts allowed? Or a bit deeper with X time to sign 1st year draftee's, same as NHL.

This leaves ample room for free agent signings, and draftees of the future. All players 20 years old or less are not eligible to be signed as UFAs following the conclusion of the draft and instead will be put back into the draft pool for 2015 so if you want them, pick them now. If a guy is playing like crap and there is a guy in your bottom 6 outperforming him feel free to shuffle them around. Its only if you don't have room for guys who are playing out of their minds to move up does it become a problem.
