Initial contract negotiations will begin on Friday February 6th.

During this period teams are free to discuss a contract with 3 of their pending UFA/RFA's. Should a player decline a contract offer during this period it does not count towards your limit.

Please send me one PM per team titled:

CDCEHL Contract Negotiations - [TEAM NAME]

This will help reduce clutter and allow me to respond in a timely manner.

To Winnipeg: Cam Ward, Shea Theodore, COL 2015 2nd round pick

To Colorado: Antti Niemi, Brooks Laich

*This move has been backdated to January 26th

An expensive trade to get rid of Cam Wards contract and we took a hit with Brooksie coming back but he's on a playoff bound team and we'll hope he performs there. Niemi is likely a pure rental but will likely ensure we go into the playoffs with as much firepower as possible.

Shea Theodore was expendable given how our defensive prospects look to be shaping up, as it's our strongest asset going forward, so this trade definitely was a green light for the Colorado franchise going forward.

Given CS' position, I'm sure he is also very happy with the trade. He'll get a Goaltender who likely won't be on Carolina come next year, a blue-chip defensive prospect and a nice 2nd RD pick.

Thanx!

Will previously unsigned rookie contracts happen automatically as per article 4.2? Including drafted players in college??

(I guess I am asking if i should have to consider signing them among the 3 we are allowed).

Edit : Would like to extend a bit of a thanx to Intoewesable on his his resignation. I found him helpful and positive as a league exec when we were going through our draft process! He may have had a bad go this season, but leaves a team with Reinhart and Bennett. Is he still on the board?

The Winnipeg Jets place forward Ryan Malone on unconditional waivers. If he clears, and teams are welcome to claim him, the team and player have an understanding for a mutually agreed termination of his contract for the purpose of retirement.

Jets and Kings with a resurgence in the west while Arizona falls out of the picture.

The Central Division, which usually sees regular movement in the 2nd and 3rd places, appears to have found its powerhouses with strong showings from Colorado and Nashville the past several weeks.

Rumour:

It is abundantly clear that the Leafs will not be a playoff team, and GM Caboose is reportedly shopping playoff pieces such as Paul Gaustad, Derek Dorsett, and injured D Man Erik Johnson.

The Winnipeg Jets would like to thank GFY and the Colorado Avalanche for the work in completing our recent deal. We would like other potential trade partners to note that the Jets worked with Colorado on a package that helped their team in return for assets that will help us. We worked with them in salary and in solving a goaltending controversy before it put them up against a wall next year.

It was, without any reference to GFY, a bitter pill to swallow for the Jets. We have sat just outside the play off picture for 2 & 1/2 months. And the bottom line was our defense was not good enough. We had a night where 6 of our D were healthy scratches. A run of 8 games where 4 D were scratched between 6 and 8 games. And since the beginning of the year we had approached nearly 20 teams for defensive help. But could not resolve anything that made sense.

So we turned our attention to a strong defensive prospect, Shea Theodore. And have recently brought up rookies Matt Tennyson and Alex Petrovic. However its not like you can trade the non performing part of your team to ''fix'' things. So we made that tough decision to move good players Anti, who was performing well and Brooks Laich who is a heart and soul player, and wore an A for us. We would like to wish them, and Colorado our trade partner, luck.

The Jets would like to invite other team to the trade table! We have players who can help other teams, lots of prospects and a healthy cap situation to work deals. We are happy to entertain another deal much like this one. Take on good players and contracts outside the play-off's. Or players that can boost us back into the play off race with more bang!

Pretty sure it's been a few months since we last held a playoff spot. The EHL Los Angeles Kings are just like the real life Kings, we slack off in the regular season but when it matters we're unstoppable. #KingsforCup2015

If you had as much fun as Mike Richards you could be forgiven... :)

(But your still a healthy scratch, LOL).
