Primal Optimist
now he is drafted I can talk about him. Kesler has the certain something that every team wants to have 23 of. Him and a Dman on the canucks both own that "Take It" aire about them that is really the heart and soul of the game, and the playoffs. Good Pick, I cant explain why It never occured to me to take him before you did. Shrug.

AriGold
Dave Bolland is up next then I'm up again.. Nashville is listening on the 88th overall pick (1 pick away). Looking to move down anywhere from 8-20 spots..
TheRussianRocket.
Nice pick LA. It came down to Kesler and Schwartz for me. Went with Schwartz cause you can't deny a a guy playing his first full 82 game season scoring 56 points and ontop making his presence known as a slick two-way player. If he progresses and goes in between the 60-70 range, will be more than pleased as that's what I expect Kes to hit give or take.
HowYaDrouin
With the 84th overall pick, the Los Angeles Kings are proud to select Ryan Kesler You know the GM group is good when the first Canuck taken (excluding Lack) on a Canuck Forum is with the 84th pick. Primal Optimist
You know the GM group is good when the first Canuck taken (excluding Lack) on a Canuck Forum is with the 84th pick. (By a TO fan no less...) Hey now, I had my reasons and they were solid, I would do it again in a heart beat. With the run on goalies, the crop of starters that were left were either too old or too expensive or unpredictable: UFA. In a cap environement I decided 1.15m for the next two years was a steal for a guy who would either share or start..and I can platoon him with a backup if need be. Letting it go one more round was too risky with 11 goalies taken in the first round and ten more gone in the second ... I think it was prudent to snag the 1.15m guy who will pay off dollars to donuts. Side Note on that, Frederick Anderson and Brian Elliott were good picks for the same reasons in fact with the news out of St Louis, our Montreal made a shrude investment in Elliott, my cap is off to you, sir. ((And Mimerez too))
Primal Optimist
Interesting tidbits: 6 teams have not picked a goalie yet 11 teams have not picked a Dman yet still 3 teams without a forward yet!
AriGold
So now that I have taken him I'm curious where people had Gustav Nyquist ranked ? We know we took him a little earlier then he would have gone but his PPG last season put him exactly where we took him.. Curious if anybody was close to taking him at the time I did ?
TheRussianRocket.
^I personally didn't even have a thought of Nyquist until you picked him tbh. I think it was a bit early but it will pay off eventually with his young age and if this league even lasts for 2 years (which I hope lasts forever), it'll pay off. Only question is if Gustav can remain effective with a healthy Datsyuk and Zetterberg + Franzen. He got most those points and attention cause they were out so let's see if he can keep scoring under a bit of a smaller role since those guys will be back. Though I have no doubt knowing my Wings and Babcock that they won't be stupid enough to drastically minimize his icetime. Kinda the same thing I did with Schwartz I guess...what do you guys think of that, too early, slightly early, just right ?
