That doesn't make sense why any team should adopt the previous team's draft time. It's the previous team who has control on whether he wants to draft or trade in that 48-hour period and it doesn't officially become the other team's pick until the trade is announced. It's most fair for every team to have control of whether to pick or trade with a 48-hour clock, so the new team should also be given that same time frame (to at least decide who to pick).

If for example a team decides to hold out for 48 hours to field offers from teams and ultimately picks the best deal at the end of that time (which is perfectly fair and reasonable). Then it wouldn't make sense for the team that recently acquired the pick to be skipped.

pretty sure that the pick is on the clock, not the team...so if that pick trades hands 29 times to every team in the league, it would not take 2 months to see the pick used...it would take the maximum of 48 hours and then the next pick is on the clock...we just say 'san jose is on the clock..but it is really the pick.

I think that is a bit unfair though PO. Guys should have a chance to analyze. Maybe institute a lower time limit for a traded pick that is on the clock ie. 12 hours from the time the trade is posted. If it gets traded again make it 6, then 3, etc. I doubt it will happen but it would at least limit the time to make a pick imo. And the new GM still has some time to make an informed decision. Thoughts?

If the time limit is almost up, then just post the player if trade is confirmed by both teams if BoG hasn't posted yet, or simply leave a PM of the player in the same chat so the BoG can post the pick along with the trade if you know you're going to be away for some time. Not sure any GMs want to wait 4 days for a pick.

100% agreed. It's a simple process.

If you're trading for a pick which is on the clock you should already know who you plan on selecting. Simply include your pick (player you want) in the trade PM so the BoG can make your selection if you won't be able to post it yourself before the pick expires.

I think trading picks during the pick's time clock countdown is the unfair part...trade it in the five picks prior to your pick for crying out loud...if you trade it because the one guy you had any brainwave about picking got taken minutes before your on the clock..then you really have to ask yourself "would any sensible GM have no plan b?

again jus spitting out my truth here, and no offense to anyone real or imagined. lol. Trades ought to be cancelled when your on the clock. but allowed before your on the clock.

I am not usually this point blank..and I like everyone here thus far....tonight I am unusually unruly in that I dumped a fying pan of boiling butter on myself about two hours ago and I think I am in shock with major 2nd degree burns ATM.

no fooling...like 15 twoonie sized splotches of burns on my chest and arms...not bad enough for the emergency ward but hurts like i got shot with a load of rocksalt point blank....

arrrrrrrrhg. Anyways, don't mean to be so surly...its the pain talking.

WSA does have a point, I guess I can't be all grinch, lol. Suppose a trade happens in the last hour of a count down, I wouldn''t begrudge the new owner of the pick a couple extra hours.

Although it is a fair point that GM's should already have a short list of who they want to pick if they are trying to trade for a pick I guess....lol

Occasionally, the GM may think they can get that plan B later in the draft and the drop off from Plan A to B is too significant to keep the pick when you have guys on your radar you'd be just as happy with taking later in the draft. I could see the concern if we were in a rush to get the draft done and I understand it's more fun when the draft is flowing with picks, but 48 hours is a short enough time to keep the draft running smoothly.
