(Discussion) VAN CAR/WAS

Recommended Posts

Given that both Carolina Hurricanes and the Washington Capitals are going to be headed in a new direction with a new GM next season. There may be an opportunity to get pieces from those organizations that might not normally be available. Who would you like to see us make a move for in each market?

Carolina:

I personally would like us to make a move on Skinner if available but he will likely be the key piece they build around moving forward.

Washington:

Perhaps someone like Johansson if he was to become available if they want to build a more experienced team around ovi? (Doubt he will be available).

Just wanted to open it up to discussion who else on these teams would you be interested in?

Haven't seen a post regarding this topic yet.

the problem is that every idea will be to trade players we don't want for other team's top players....in people's minds we have to win every trade.......realistically, you have to put yourself in the other gm's shoes and ask....if i make that trade, am i doing my job to improve my team....edler won't get near as much as some people think.....kesler may not either.....

ask, if i was another team's gm, what would i want from the canucks and what would i be willing to give up for them....then you would see trades, more realistic...

I appreciate you joining the conversation. I meant by no means we should trade spare parts for their stars lol. I am just opening up the conversation to see who we as a community might be interested in looking at. I know WAS has a lot of solid defenseman who may be possible to acquire when their new GM rolls. It all depends on who steps in and how they wish to go. With CAR for instance they have a lot of aged pieces in their late 20's early 30's. Is the new GM going to sell off assets/prospects to go for a few serious years of cup contention or full of rebuild/retool. These are the questions their GM's need to determine. We are starting to see new GM's sliding into orgs CAR, CGY etc. I understand your frustration but not sure why its being aimed at me in this post. All good though lol. Your right though its important in any aspect of life to look at the situations in other peoples shoes. Helps immensely. Thanks for joining the conversation.
