I’ve been saying this over and over with Kane proposals. Why do the Jets want our sixth overall? They don’t. They want to make playoffs, not dive deeper into rebuilding. Gaunce and our sixth doesn’t help give them the immediate help they need. Would EDM trade hall for are sixth?

This is a team that is desperate to make the playoffs not go back in to rebuild. This is a team going back to the year 2000 has made the post season once and played a total of 4 playoff games in those 14 years. They are not trading Kane away for future help, if he goes it's to improve the team now, similarly to what Philly did with Carter and Richards.

So if Vancouver wants Kane on our team it will be for an already playing NHL impact player, someone that can help the Jets get to that next level, which is a post season dance. So this scenario doesn't exist because the other side doesn't accept. If Kane were to come here it would mean Kassian +, or Tanev + were heading the other way and quite honestly, there are other teams (aka, edmonton) that have far better young assets to move that canucks have to offer.

honestly I believe they would want the 6th. The 6th is either going to be Ritchie or Drasital. Both are nhl ready or pretty close. Also they get two defensive specialist in gaunce and Hansen which is something they desperately need.

Both Ritchie or Drasital are unproven and still not going to make a greater impact than kane for atleast 2-5 years or they may never get to that point, They could get a lot more impact ready players in return if they wanted to move Kane, It would be similar to what the flyers did when they shipped out Carter and Richards,

Look at it from a jets perspective, they want to make playoffs now, not have hopes that in 2-5 the young players we traded them hopefully turn out and then make the playoffs. Kane is already a young player on their team making an impact, trading him for futures is a step back, Something Jet do not want.

Hall was number # overall and trading Carter and Richards did not make them better.

I agree though. Winnipeg is in make the playoffs mode.\

My only concern with this our weak defense

Edler is so replaceable, by just about anyone.

Philly is much better without Carter and Richards. What truly hurt Philly was the loss of Chris Pronger. But even so as an outside variable Philadelphia despite a decent season started that final year as the best team in hockey. Than the locker room drama came. With reported screaming matches and coach disputes and dry island. Philly was one of the worst teams in hockey to end the year and had a terrible playoff showing. Even Richards supporters wanted him at least stripped of the 'C' in the offseason. Philly is younger and needs more development but they came out better. Even the production is better. Couturier is currently a better defensive player than Richards and Simmonds and Voracek along as producing more offense than C and R are doing now.

Pronger is what did them in and it is why Ed Snider was willing to go as far as offering that Weber contract. They are desperate to replace Pronger and not Richards or Carter who they got great returns on.
