zombieksa
Not a bad choice by any means. That team has moneyballed for years and have had some decent trades (Vermette was an absolute steal.) That extra cash flow of a Canadian market may allow him to put his footprint on a team and make it relevant again.

JE14
Fast? They fired Feaster in December. He might mean early. If Pittsburgh loses then Shero might get fired (unlikely) and they miss out on him.

Or if they waited they might have missed out on Treliving. It's a double-edged sword.
Dogbyte
Good pickup for Calgary, very good. They are slowly turning the corner. They might be alright next year.

BlueLemming
Good! Less competition for Benning CGY - Treliving CAR - Francis WAS - ? VAN - Benning I seriously would be willing to bet MG is a frontrunner for Washington. He'll singlehandedly finish running that organization to the ground though, and I'm okay with that! coryberg
It's likely that Calgary would have never been competition for Benning Brian Burke only interviewed one person for the job. He knew who he wanted he jut had to wait until the coyote's season ended before negotiating.

He'll singlehandedly finish running that organization to the ground though, and I'm okay with that! It's a process! But seriously I doubt we see gillis in another job anytime soon unless he settles on a buyout of his contract. By signing with another team he would be forfeiting 4 million dollars. Gillis isn't stupid and will milk every dime he can while taking a extended vacation.

MoneypuckOverlord
It's likely that Calgary would have never been competition for Benning Heck even Buffalo passed up on Benning. Must be more then meets the eye, I hope Linden takes his time on finding a General Manager.

It may also be an issue of timing. For example, if Burke wants to get things moving and organized with the Flames sooner then later he is going to look at GMs that are available sooner than later. Burke likes to prep for the draft, and I think he wanted a GM in place asap. That being said, it seems like a good hire.
The Kassassin Train
Heck even Buffalo passed up on Benning. Must be more then meets the eye, I hope Linden takes his time on finding a General Manager. Way to tell half the story and not the other. Brent Treliving also got interviewed by the Sabres and they passed on him as well. Must be more than what meets the eye eh!?
