(Value of) What are our players worth?

Recommended Posts

With all the trade and draft proposals it made me wonder what the value of our expndable players are worth. Below are the players I think are expendable, NOT whether they have NTC or not, just simply what are they worth in draft choices and prospects?

#1 Alex Edler....................................1st rounder (Mid 2014 10th pick or 2 -2nds)

#2 Alex Burrows...............................3rd rounder any year

#3 Chris Higgins...............................2nd rounder any year

#4 Jordan Schroeder........................3rd rounder 2014 or 4th rounder 2015

#5 Jason Garrison.............................1st rounder (Mid rounder any year)

#6 David Booth..................................3rd rounder 2014 or 4th rounder 2015

I would Kesler in there but, he is not expendable under normal circumstances and will only say that he should be considered a 1st line player if trading. Point being that IF Vancouver had a center that could be used for 2nd line duties, having Kesler play with the Sedins all year would make that a much more threatening line.......there by making him a 1st line winger......I think he deserves that much praise. Actually he would make a first line woinger on a lot of clubs, if they choose to play him there.

Keslers Value is along the lines of: either

Theadore/Etem/Ottawa 2014 or Poulet/Bennet/Pitts 1st-2014

What you are trading for in Kesler is the Immediate Improvement in your club to compete for the Stanley Cup for the next 5 to 6 years, while your core is still able to compete at the top. Something that none of the other picks and prospects can do, in the same time frame.

Nothing new on the Kesler front, just putting it out there that I want a top end defense prospect, a young player and a pick.........didn't see any other team even discuss that.

So Burrows, booth, Schroeder have the same value in your mind?

Pretty much. I love Burrows, and his energy, but I have been wondering how he gets the points he gets, and have wondered when he was going to drop in production for years.......honestly, my views are that the Sedins make the winger and not the other way around, history proves me right. Again, I love him, but is he any better than Booth or Schroeder? IMO when you consider age, longevity, potential.....I can only give Burrows a slight edge, and a very small one at that.....when was the last time you heard some team make an offer for him or even hear a rumour? I think age is the biggest thing now. Maybe I am wrong....hope so!

Think about it for a second. If a player is expendable, how on Earth do you think any GM would be able to get a 1st round pick for them? My definition of an expensable player is that they are redundant and generally considered worthless - not even close to being able to retrieve a 1st round pick for.

I understand your definition, but mine is a little different. First off, these guys are all NHL hockey players, and how I look at is, who are the guys that have value, but we could afford to loose because we have guys either ahead of them or behind them on the depth chart. It doesn't mean they are worthless. IMO if you can replace a player with a prospect or a UFA and get an asset (Draft Pick) back, then you are ahead of the game. And if you can balance this on a yearly basis.......you are the GM of Detroit, Chicago or Boston. LOL

Burrows worth the same as Booth and Schroeder? Yea ok...Burr's worth at least a mid-2nd and even then he's more valuable to us.

Am I the only one who agrees w/ these values? I think they're fairly accurate. Except for that Kesler trade. You'd have to take out at least one item in both deals.

Because you grossly underrate our players...

Dear Pears

Thank you for putting a value on Burrows.........I agree that maybe Mtl or NYR give up that......but probably no other team.......but I ask you, IF Jensen plays witht the Sedins, where does Burrows fit......just a question!

Again thank you....a concept some of my other guests do not appriciate

PS would you mind putting values on the other players I suggested or do you agree with them?

I would say Burrows is worth a 2nd rounder, probably mid-round

Schroeder is probably worth a fourth at most, and Edler might not be worth a first anymore; probably a 2nd round

Otherwise I agree with your values (except the Kesler trades, we probably get a little too much)

Interesting thread. I would have to go with this ;

Kesler ;

1) Columbus - Wennberg + mid level prospect + 1st in 2015

2) Ducks - Etem + Ottawa 1st 2014 + Ducks 1st 2015

3) Pittsburg - Pouliot + Bennett or 1st in 2014/15 Canucks choose.

Alex Edler - 1st round pick + lower blue chip prospect

Chris Higgins - 2nd round pick plus low prospect or AHL call up.

Jordan Schroeder - Qualify him or let him walk as UFA

Jason Garrison - 1st round pick or mid level top 6 forward

David Booth - virtually nothing . A 5th rounder to take the remaining year.

Dan Hamhuis - high 1st round pick plus medium prospect

Yannik Hansen -2nd round or 3rd round draft pick.

Because you grossly underrate our players...

Let me guess. You're one of those idiots who think Edler could get us Mantha, a 1st and Tatar right? Or something along those lines? GM's aren't stupid. Our players are all worth less than what everybody on this forum believes. On top of that, you guys GROSSLY UNDERRATE guys like Theodore, Etem, Wenneberg, Bennett and 1st round draft picks. Do you think a team will want to mortgage their future for a decent 2nd liner in Kesler or the worst dman in the leauge in Edler? NO. Edler had the worst +- in the entire league and he missed a couple of games. Keep that in mind when u make up a proposal about Edler.

Honestly if the canucks got these deals to work, they should take them and run lol.

Kesler:

1) Ducks - Etem + Ottawa 1st 2014 + Ducks 1st 2015

2) Pittsburg - Pouliot + Bennett or 1st in 2014/15 Canucks choose

Alex Edler - Anthony Mantha + 2015 2nd round pick

Chris Higgins - 2nd round pick 2015

Jordan Schroeder - 5th round pick 2015

Jason Garrison - 1st round pick

David Booth - 7th rounder to take the remaining year.

Dan Hamhuis - high 1st round pick plus medium prospect

Yannik Hansen -2nd round or 3rd round

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

#2 Alex Burrows...............................3rd rounder any year MAYBE A 2ND TO NYR OR MONTREAL...MAYBE

#3 Chris Higgins...............................2nd rounder any year SCORED 17 GOALS THIS YEAR AND IS USED DEFENSIVELY

#4 Jordan Schroeder........................3rd rounder 2014 or 4th rounder 2015

#5 Jason Garrison.............................1st rounder (Mid rounder any year) 21ST RATED OFFENSIVE DEFENSMEN PER 60 MINUTES PLAYING OVER 200 MINUTES OF PP TIME...THAT IS WORTH SOMETHING BETTER THAN A SECOND!

#6 David Booth..................................3rd rounder 2014 or 4th rounder 2015

AND TO EVERYONE.......KESLER IS NOT A PLAYMAKER.....HE IS A SHOOTER.......AND HE DOESN'T MAKE HIS WINGERS BETTER......BUT HE IS A SKILLED 1ST LINE SHOOTING WINGER OR A 3RD LINE CENTER THAT CAN SHUT YOU DOWN
