Looks like Jaromir is sticking around for another season!

New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr said Tuesday he has a deal in place to return for the 2014-15 season, according to Zdenek Janda of iSport.cz and Roman Jedlicka of TV NOVA Sport in the Czech Republic, where Jagr is training for the upcoming IIHF World Championship.

Jagr led the Devils in scoring in his first season with the team with 67 points (24 goals). He is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Jagr turned 42 on Feb. 15, but still had his best statistics since returning from a three-season stint in the Kontinental Hockey League. He eclipsed 700 career goals and finished the season tied with Steve Yzerman for sixth on the NHL all-time scoring list with 1,755 points.

Glad to see him stick around for another year, he's still a to 6 forward who can produce.

I'd put the over/under at 47 years old.

The man still played 19 mins last year and was the best producer under every offensive category.

He'll get his 2000 points. He may even get 800 goals.

Not only that, if he'd not had the three years in Russia and two full seasons lost to lockouts, he'd be around this currently:

1,840 games played (1,473 currently, add 75 games per season on average)

855 goals (705 currently, add 30 goals per season on average)

1,300 assists (1,050 currently, add 50 assists per season on average)

2,155 points

That would rank him 1st in games played, 2nd in goals scored, 2nd in assists and 2nd in points.

And that's being cautious on the figures, the first half-season lockout he scored 32-38-70 in just 48 games, and the 04-05 season saw him come back the year after with 123pts. With full GP, and bullish estimates, he could have been on 1,860 games, 895 goals (ahead of Gretzky) and 2,245 points.

A mind-blowing career, one that I'm glad is continuing. I just hope he doesn't suffer from staying too long, as Teemu Selanne clearly did this season.

At the same time the knowledgable Canucks fans have written off the Sedins at 33 :picard:

When Jagr was 33 he scored 54 goals and 123 points in 82 games winning the Hart.

He also doesn't make 7 million a year. His last contract had him seeing 4 million.

Yup.

It's mind boggling, really.

Jagr, just another hockey player that would be too big to draft at #6 this year and only put up points in junior because he was playing against young, smaller players.

(Just a dig at the people who want to draft small players because they think big guys cannot be as skilled.)

Jagr was taken 5th overall in 1990, the year the Canucks took Nedved with the 2nd overall pick.

Always one of my favorite players, Jagr scored a ton, and won:

2 Stanley Cups

5 Art Ross trophies

3 Lester B. Pearson trophies

1 Hart Memorial trophy

Too bad he left the NHL.. he would have hit those milestones had he not.

Plus, he had to deal with three lockouts. I'd wager he would be past 2200 points and 850 goals.

Excellent!

The league wasn't prepared for Selanne & Jagr to retire at the same time! haha

One of the best of all time.

Nichuskin reminds me of Jags a little bit.

Jagr did say that he thinks Nich will be the best player in the league some day.
