anybody know the contract statuses of coaches of teams that got elminated this week?

i'm thinking the timing of the torts fire rumour is timed perfectly with a team that got eliminated earlier in the week. i don't think it'll be mcllelan as our coach but what about guys like hitchcock for example? logic would say the timing is key here. just like the rumour that bruins' gm benning is on the top list to join us and its just that linden needs to wait for the post season to end for the bruins before making the official announcement on him.

Found this source: http://www.otherleague.com/contracts/nhl-head-coach-contracts-salaries/

Lists the contract term and (some) salaries for current NHL teams' head coaches. I don't know how accurate it is.

EDIT: It would seem that the "years remaining" numbers that site provides are including this season (at least based on how those numbers compare to some of the deals that I actually know about).

So that would mean that Ken Hitchcock (St. Louis) and Mike Yeo (Minnesota) are both on the final years of their deals and are awaiting extensions (or their contracts will expire and they'll be looking for new employment).

And it would also mean that coaches like Boudreau, Hartley, Muller, Richards, Babcock, Berube, and Carlyle will all be entering their final years in the 2014-15 season.

NOTE: this is all assuming that the website linked above is actually accurate

I'd bet a lot of money that Hitchcock stays in STL. Honestly the only teams that would fire their coaches because of playoff failure this year are Pittsburgh and Ottawa

Agreed..Hitchcock has done a good job with the Blues..The way the playoffs are set up now, there's going to be a few powerhouses go down in the first round...Elite teams are goibg to go down in the first round...Does that make them crummy coaches?

you got a valid point, i am not suggesting it makes the losing coach a crummy coach but the timing of the torts firing has me intrigued. for all we know trotz could be the new guy but its fun to speculate once in a while.

You're not going to see a coach until we get a GM and he picks the coach.
