The Official John Tortorella Appreciation Thread!

I'm not saying the decision to replace Torts was a bad one, but let's show him a little respect!

I for one was as surprised as anyone when he was hired. But Torts has been nothing but a 1st class gentleman since day 1. As far as I'm concerned Larry Brooks can suck a......lemon!

I don't know who hired Torts...Gillis? Aquilini? Who knows, maybe Tony Gallagher had the final say and hired Torts just so he could break his own record of negative articles in a season?

But for whatever reason, Canucks brass saw John Tortorella and his defense first style as the man to lead the Canucks, as if the offensive/physical style of play they've been preaching for years needed a complete U-Turn back to defensive play.

Torts came as advertised, he preached defense and shot blocking and that's what we got. Unfortunately some of those shots broke bones and he had to deal with a lot of injuries but he isn't the man to blame for this season.

Here's hoping Torts lands on his feet because he seems like a really good guy.

Thanks Torts! Wish I could send the man a letter to express my appreciation for the job that he did last year. Thought he did great but his players just didn't respond. You would think that the players without a ring would understand the sacrifices that it takes to win one.

Everyone knows that was out of line but he went to war for his team. If you're really upset about that then you should just watch the NBA or something...

he didn't go to war for his team.......he let his feelings in a long standing feud with Hartley overtake his responsibility for the team......quite the opposite of "going to war for his team". Whatever makes you feel better I guess

I appreciate the fact he is a straight shooter. He had the balls to tell Trevor the core of the tam is stale and needs to be renewed.

I too appreciate that fact.

It's likely one of the things that led to his firing...
