MayRayDown
So if todd mclellan gets fired and we hire him would people be opposed to signing the 37 year old veteran Dman? Hamhuis-Tanev Edler-Boyle Garrison-Bieksa Stanton would give us one of the best backends of the NHL and he has experience in a Mclellan system but takes away from the team getting younger which people want. Could push for Edler getting traded for young forwards so stanton could get top 6 minutes and push garrison to top
YEGCanuck
If it was my decision I would be very interested in McLellan as coach if he became available, which I doubt. Also Boyle for a couple of years with club option on a third and at a reduced salary.

Not sure where you get one of the best backends in the NHL from. Anyways I don't think so. We need to get money out of our defence core not put more into it. We can't afford it and we need to spend our money on forwards.

I don't think they understood the system last year because they were running around a lot plus a young goalie and injuries I'll give them a pass for this season. Boyle would be leading our D in points last season and can help the powerplay Sedins-Kesler Boyle-Edler/Garrison

Problem is both Edler and Bieksa are quite weak defensively and slow. Garrison is also slow.
bigbadcanucks
If the Canucks could dump Edler and/or Garrison onto someone (subject to waiving of NTCs), I would be all for signing Boyle for two years. IMO, he's still a catalyst for the PP, which we desperately need. Hamhuis -- Bieksa Garrison or Edler -- Boyle Stanton -- Tanev Weber That's not a world beater defense corps, but IMO, having Boyle in the lineup instead of Edler and/or Garrison is an immediate upgrade, and would make either Edler or Garrison a better player for being partnered up with a wily old veteran like Boyle. JesseBlue
Funny enough that i was thinking of getting danny boyle but only at a reasonable price (which will be very hard) ... Around a 4.5m per year ... This would be good if the coach likes a puck possesion type of offense...
Phil_314
I'd definitely do it. Given enough PP time he can do quite some damage, and with he and Garry may create what Garry and Campbell had in Florida (move Edler for forwards, sign depth D). Hamhuis - Bieksa Garrison - Boyle Stanton - Tanev
Azzy Mahmood
The more I read proposals seeing Edler traded, the more I'm convinced we buyout Garrison. We need to lose one of our NTC contracts on the back end, and I just don't see Edler moving.
Madness
It would have to be reasonable price. I definitely wouldn't overpay for Boyle.
JeremyCuddles
I'd hate to say it cause I want Ed on the first plane out of town but I was thinking the other day Boyle may be a great partner for him. He's no spring chicken but he's still got game. Ed needs to be in the backgrounds complementing a mobile offensive d-man. Maybe Boyle is that guy. thaji
If you sign Boyle you play him with Stanton on your 3rd pairing, protected minutes and PP time.I think we definitely need a RHD PP QB and have for the past 3 seasons since Erhoff and both Salo left.I would target following players via free agency/tradesNiskanenBoyleJ Schultz (EDM) - TradeMike Green (W retained salary) - Trade
JesseBlue
Niskanen will cost a boat load (thinking 5.5 and above)... Boyle should be partnered with edler in hopes he reagains his abilities...i still have faith in him...its the bloody nhl games comittee that made him toothless
