NHL 15 Thread

They never confirmed it was removed though did they? Online shootout is one of the only online modes I can play (being so far away from EA servers) without immense lag.

EA SPORTS Hockey League (EASHL):

As a franchise, we’re 100% committed to the EA SPORTS Hockey League. While we can’t deliver EASHL in NHL 15 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, we have huge plans for the mode in future iterations of the game. We will be putting together a small EASHL committee made up of you, the fans, to ensure that we deliver an experience that is bigger and better than any of us would have imagined when we first introduced the feature in NHL 09.

Decisions like this are never easy, nor do we take them lightly. We know that there is a passionate group of fans that loves these modes and is no doubt disappointed with this news; but we also know that this same group of fans expects a high quality gameplay experience above anything else. We’re a franchise built on quality, so launching these modes without confidence in their quality wasn’t something that we were willing to do.

We thank you for the passion you have for our game. We looking forward to bringing you a next generation hockey experience this September that will continue to evolve and improve with your feedback post launch.

I've read the article, while it doesn't list online shoot out as one of the modes, it also doesn't say its not going to be in the game.

I read somewhere (I think an EA Q&A) that they won't have that mode because of low popularity. Which seems like nonsense. Everything they're doing right now is unacceptable. You cannot just announce the omission of what I think is the best game mode... mere weeks before release. That's an absolute joke. They've had two entire years and this is all they can come up with. I'd also like to know if rehashing a game mode is actually that taxing on their resources (TWO YEARS).

The omitted modes from the game are all online modes which makes me think that EA does not want to pay for or maintain the server space required for this game anymore. It is unacceptable but I dont think it is the development teams choice on this one. I think the higher ups decided for them based on income this game receives compared to FIFA and Madden. That and having a monopoly on the NHL games means they can cut cost whenever they feel appropriate and still know people will purchase the game. I bought a PS4 with NHL in mind (other games too) and am not to happy dropping $399 on a PS4 for a half assed game because some manager or VP doesnt care about the consumer, just the bottom line.

Not happy at all with EA but truthfully I bought an Xbox One and the thing needs to get used already. Definitely not getting this game for 360. If it wasn't for that halo collection I probably would of really regretted buying one. No one predicted getting a gimped NHL game on next gen.

If you're keeping the current gen, dont bother buying 15. It will be a port of 14 with roster and announcer updates. I played the shit out of EASHL from 09-12 but the last two games was all about GMC... Sucks that both are gone, but I play far more 1v1 than I do EASHL anymore... I will still be getting this for Xb1 to get my hockey fix in, I refuse to buy a 360 game anymore.

The GFX and presentation on the 1 will at least give me my hockey until other games I want like, Halo, Sunset Overdrive, (maybe) Assassins Creed, Evolve, etc.

Just porting over the same game and advertising it as something else sounds illegal to me. They must have made some gameplay changes

They will claim a few things here or there, but I guarantee those of you expecting a new game are going to be mistaken. They used their resources for the next gen knowing this would be the case on the 360 and Ps3. You will get the announce team, and the NBC style presentation, but the real-life arenas, fan models, player models, etc will be next gen exclusive.

It will be 14 with a new coat of paint. Bank on that.

But it's the only way to play EASHL since no one will be playing 14 anymore. I'd pay $60 for EASHL alone

There are going to be thousands of people new to the NHL series who will only buy the game because of how good the graphics are, that's going to be a lot of people because look at the E3 trailer it had more than a million views. EA is going to make a lot of money.

Yeah, but then they play the game and they never buy another copy again.
