NHL 15 Thread

Man just been playing this and the gameplay is so bad! It's honestly just like playing pinball on the ice.

Puck slides around everywhere, off the stick, bouncing around and always deflected and tipped. Impossible to make more than 1 clean pass.

Every guy gets hit down so easily and the defensive AI is still mind boggling stupid. The whole team goes to the guy with the puck leaving the middle wide open.

AFAIK, all modes present in NHL14 are also in NHL15 for PS3/360.

It's only the PS4 and XBone that are missing modes.

PS3/360 versions are the same as they were in NHL 14. Nobody has ever said they are missing any modes. I don't know why people are asking it.

PS4/One versions are the ones that are lacking a huge amount.

I bought the PS3 version day one. It's pretty much the only game I play, and I knew that I'd get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of building up my player and club in EASHL - even if it were identical to 14. As an adult, it's easy to justify dropping $70 for something you enjoy with that frequency over a whole year, when there is no real substitute. I've spent much more on a concert ticket or a bottle of scotch.

On the one hand, I'm happy with some things. The AI are slightly better (still lacking, but any improvements are welcome). Physics with collisions and the puck are a big step forward. The commentary is pretty weak at times ("geometrically"?), but it's nice to have something new. And IMO, the music is better too. I'll take those over things that don't matter to actual gameplay, such as new menus/intro/etc.

But still, the other part of me still can't believe they had the gall to charge the full $70 for this. 98% of it was simply cut-and-pasted. In principle, it is a complete rip-off, and a transparent one at that. If they had acknowledged that this was last gen and a fraction of the work went into it by cutting the price to, let's say, $50...it would have been far more acceptable. I'd have a lot more respect for EA if that were the case.

But as it stands, I gave them my money (and would do it again), but hate them for it. It kind of feels like when I got my car towed under questionable circumstances. I wanted to kick and scream and punch their face in...but in the end, I simply paid up because I needed my car.

(Ps - Getting my car back ALSO cost much more than NHL 15.)

Don't know what's more disappointing. Me watching Crank 2, or you buying NHL15.

FFS that is so dumb >_<

Yeah, the process for doing your lineup is really stupid. You can't even have a bench of players that are scratched.

It's ridiculous having to click on a guy, click to swap him, have the search collection menu open up, then click to set it to search what position, and you can't just click D, you have to do RD or LD...which is dumb as well.

It is so much faster on PS3/360 when you open a pack and "send to scratched players" then you just edit everything from the lines menu.

These new menus are slower and dumber. Makes me wonder what this first September patch is revolving around the HUT menus.

I'm not sure that's Something to be proud of bud

LOL why would you think i’m proud? It was a response to what he said. I’m fine with it.

Do you not know how much money you're wasting? I limit myself to $30-$50 a year.

Wasting? YOU DON’T KNOW ME. The only games I really play are Madden and NHL every year. Instead of buying every new Call Of Duty, Battlefield, etc, I put money into MUT and HUT. Don’t judge me bruh.

Well. Six pack of beer or a pack of cigarettes is ten-fifteen bucks so a couple hubdred over a year is nothing. Its entertainment. I prob spent about a hundred last year on card packs lol whatever.

People who smoke every day spend that much in less than a month spending less than a dollar a day on a video game habbit isnt bad lol

Props +1

So a few things I've noticed about be a GM on next gen.

Pros:

-Don't get asked lots of questions or need to stop while simming. If you scout assign it continues to SIM, if you don't he goes wherever.

-Overall presentation is better.

-Players progress well.

-Multi select in trades/roster moves.

Cons:

-Can't edit AHL lines, therefore can't give rookies ice time.

-Trade values aren't always accurate.

-Can't search for potential players other than by going to each team

-Don't like new potential system. Constantly had inaccurate readings, e.g. 27yr old 77D is listed as top 4 nhl defense.

-Can't choose drafted players - my first years first 4 picks (1st, 2nd, 2 early 3rds) were all goalies. Team desperately needed forwards.

-No option to SIM forward a day in resign phase. Have to go back several times.

-Still have a lot of features that should be in there but aren't, e.g. signing layers mid season

-Players that are in the system don't have game stats recorded and yet still grow throughout the season

-No upgrades for scouting staff etc
