7thMan
Whether it's a blessing or a curse, the Canucks have the majority of their team locked up through the 2014-15 season. We have one compliance buyout left to spend and a prime candidate in David Booth. There are a few guys, though who are in need of new contracts and at least a couple could be up for a raise. Here's the guys with expiring contracts who played in the NHL last year... UFA:Mike Santorelli © - NHL cap hit of $600,000 last season. Andrew Alberts (D) - NHL cap hit of $600,000 last season. RFA:Chris Tanev (D) - NHL cap hit of $1,500,000 last season.Zack Kassian (RW) - NHL cap hit of $870,000 last season.Jeremy Welsh (LW) - NHL cap hit of $850,000 last season. Yan Sauve (D) - NHL cap hit of $708,750 last season. Darren Archibald (RW) - NHL cap hit of $660,000 last season. Yannick Weber (D) - NHL cap hit of $650,000 last season. Jordan Schroeder © - NHL cap hit of $600,000 last season. Zack Dalpe © - NHL cap hit of $550,000 last season. Obviously there are guys more important than others. Kassian, Santorelli and Tanev are important guys to get signed and all of them could make a case for more money. So, of our free agents going into the off-season, who should we re-sign? And what is their value?
Keslerific
I said 2-3 for all. Would like to see all 3 back, only thing with Santorelli is we already have so many spots already with guys like Booth, Matthias, Richardson, Hansen that we would definitely need to make some trades if we want to slot in some of the young guys who are ready next year. I'd rather have Santorelli than those guys though if he plays the same as he did this season. Not too interested in the Others, Weber as a 7th would be good if we go back to being an offensive team. Dalpe and Schroeder on the 4th would be more entertaining than the bigger guys who can hit but not score too many goals. May as well go with them since I didn't notice Sestito make much of an impact other than his fights and the odd goal.
Trebreh
Only players there that needs to be re-signed are Kassian and Tanev, the rest can go. Clear up some cap space and spots for our youth to take over.
DrChill
I would resign the following, of course this depends on trades of key members UFA:Mike Santorelli © - NHL cap hit of $600,000 last season. RFA:Chris Tanev (D) - NHL cap hit of $1,500,000 last season.Zack Kassian (RW) - NHL cap hit of $870,000 last season.Yan Sauve (D) - NHL cap hit of $708,750 last season. Prefer to trade his rights, but trade him after signing works too
bigbadcanucks
If I were GM for a day or two for the Canucks, I would offer: -Santorelli 2 years at $1.15M per season (one-way deal) -Tanev 3 years at $2.25M per season (one-way deal) -Kassian 3 years at $2.25M per season (one-way deal) -Schroeder 2 years at $750,000 per season (one-way deal) -offer sheet all of the other RFAs to two-way deals -sign a few of the UFAs who played for the Comets last year to add some depth for the Comets Then, I would try to sign: -Paul Statsny, 4/5 years at $7.0M -Matt Nisakanen to 4 years at $5.0M or Dan Boyle to 2 years at $5.0M Then, do what I can to get Kesler, Edler, Burrows and Hansen to waive their NTC so that I can trade: -Edler, Burrows and Markstrom to Toronto for James Reimer and Jake Gardiner -Kesler and Hansen to Winnipeg for Evander Kane And hope to high heavens that: -Sedins can return to a point-per-game pace -Horvat and Gaunce are ready for the NHL -Kassian and Jensen can play as well and consistently as they showed at times this past season -Matthias can develop into a steady 40 point centreman in a shut-down role -Garrison wasn't nearly as bad a player as he showed himself to be this past season

Dont forget Santo, he could provide us depth annd he would play on the third line, plus he could play wing too.
