Makall
Boy that sure showed them... Oh wait, we're actually worse than ever. The unintelligent thought they were the problem but little did they know, AV and Luongo were the glue that held the team together got them to playoffs or the last several years (When was the last time Canucks got to the Finals?). The worst part of the Canucks is not the players, the coaches, the management, or the owners. They want to succeed. No, the worst part of the Canucks are the fans... the same fans that blame AV or Luongo immediately after losing a game, or letting a goal in. Sending them death threats the next day. And they wonder why Luongo and AV are under so much pressure? Canucks would've won that game if it weren't for the fans. The same fans that trashed their own city. And now they know. People only realize what was good when they lose them. See you in the next decade hopefully.
The Magician
Nope. AV needed to leave because making the playoffs every year and losing in the first round is worse than getting a top 6 pick. Luongo had to go for cap space so we can start the rebuild.

He has a good young team in the Rangers. Also they play in the east where his style fits better. Lou is a great goalie, but for Canucks to rebuild they needed to move his contract. Lack is a good replacement right now. He is cheap and is still a young goalie. This team may be worse than the core of 2011, but that team has lost major pieces and the core has aged. It's time to build a team for the post Sedin era. This is actually exciting times to be a Canucks fan. Fans have put a lot of pressure on this team, but it's like that around the NHL. Look at the Canadiens, than team gets booed off the ice if they have a bad period.
Nuxfanabroad
Everyone gets older..includes Lu. Av coulda' been let go a hundred times earlier. Both had good runs-so appreciate the memories. Excited about our young & affordable, 'tending Swedish-trio. Who knows what these blokes might pull off over the coming decade?

Riviera82
We're not winning a Stanley Cup this year. We didn't win one with AV and Luongo either and their time had passed, so what's the difference?

Do you really believe that Canucks management (especially when it was arrogant Gillis) did anything based on what the fans thought or wanted? AV is a good coach but his time had come. Luongo wanted out thanks in large part to AV....lol ironic hey?

Luongowned
Hind sight is 20/20. Luongo had almost a decade to win us a cup and he failed to. I'm not saying it was his fault by any means but sometimes change is necessary. AV was in the same boat, he had his opportunity and he wasn't able to accomplish the main goal which is to win the cup. He was by far our most successful coach and did a great job but growing pains come with any professional sport. Change of direction was definitely needed in order for us to be competitive again. Both of them served their purpose and now it's time for our team to attain a new look that can compete with the Titans of the NHL.

Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
Unfortunately, Trevor Linden is a people's man and he will take the fans' public opinion seriojsly. I'm sure the fanbase played factored into the coach firings. Our wishes have been granted. Now comes our next demand.
-DLC-
^Seriously? Trevor made a tough decision but it was NOT based on the fans...sorry, but no. He looked at how things panned out, talked to the players, talked to Torts (and likely saw that he wasn't going to change things) and then moved on that. You're truly misinformed if you feel that TL is using the fans as his guide in this. He's made one decision and you're already using "unfortunately"? It's fans like this, who make snap judgements, who feel they have the answers but lack the patience and insight to see that changes are part of hockey. When things are quickly deteriorating there's a call for action. Torts isn't gone because the fans are misguided...Torts is gone because at the rate he was going we wouldn't have a team left to cheer for. He stormed the other teams dressing room and that was not something that would help a team already often under fire in this league. He was a heat magnet at that point and we have to draw the attention from the negative, not to it. Lay low and just play hockey. It was a failed experiment. How can you state what others wishes are anyhow? As a fan, you don't know what I/we want.
