insomniac604
Am having a hell of a time with this post. Every option is greyed out. Thanks, CDC!Here is the full article : http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/wings/2014/05/02/todd-bertuzzi-red-wings-future/8609497/Anyway, Todd Bertuzzi needs a contract. According to him..."I'd put Detroit as my favorite place to have played. California and Florida had their weather benefits, but as far as lifestyle, we couldn't have lived in a better area. I love playing here, with the ownership and management that we have, the way they run the organization, you're treated first class."If Detroit has no room for him, would we want this guy back?I think he would be an AWESOME mentor for our young guys. Especially the ones who want to be like him.. such as Kassian. However, is there too much bad blood with the Moore case?It is surprising to me that Bertuzzi thinks Detroit is the best location. And his runners up are sunshine states. Was there a significant fall-out with the Canucks association? Would he not like Linden as the head?It almost seems redundant to focus on our past players with a veteran team. But I feel like we could use one or two old guys to put us into perspective. All of our current ones have grown up together. Makes it a lot harder to spot the problems.
saucypass
Would be cool to have Bert back to mentor young Kassian Unfortunately the trial is rescheduled to September of this year.
Tearloch7
Just too much baggage for him to return, I would think, plus he may only have a few good games left ..
CB007
Wouldn't pay him much more than min NHL wage.
DeltaSwede
I think it is a very "nice" idea. However, Bert is not the player Canucks fans remember him as and this is not really a hockey based move but rather something some fans get sentimental about. Todd was a great player for the Canucks and that is how I want to remember him. Bringing him back wouldn't help the team that much to warrant the added media hype around a move like that. I loved big Bert but he is not the player he once was. I think he is better as a memory then he would actually be playing.

sonoman
Naslund as the GM, Crow as the coach, and Big Bert back? What a reunion that would be. Great for nostalgia but not what the team needs to get better.
-DLC-
Would love him back here, just love it. But, realistically, we're trying to get younger, stronger, faster (or should be) so this doesn't fit with that. I have serious doubt that it would ever happen anyhow. Bert is a strong willed individual with pride...there is no turning back I'm sure. Once this lawsuit is over, I'm sure the last thing he'll want is anything that connects him to it...it would be a media circus if he returned and the story would be recycled endlessly. Although I was at the game during his suspension when he came out for the fan appreciation jersey giveaway to a huge ovation that showed overwhelming support, he was put through the ringer here. The media, in particular, was relentless (a Global reporter in particular comes to mind)...I doubt he'd ever give some of them the time of day. Of course, every single thing I ever think/expect can be turned upside down in a second because things just go that way. But, at this point, I highly doubt it. Mackcanuck
Bert is 40 years old, even without the tandem load of baggage he carries in Vancouver he is just not a good fit! We need to get younger, faster, bigger. I wouldn't want Bert taking Jensen's or Gaunce's spot I would like us to go all in on UFA's Stastny and Dan Boyle or Niskanen, whatever it takes! I know Boyle is 37 but he is the PP specialist, PMD we need and 28 year old Stastny is the cream of the UFA crop!
BobLoblaw
The Bertuzzi-Moore trial is on track to begin later this year. Imagine the media circus if he came back to Vancouver. It's not going to happen.
asian player
I don't care what it takes, and what consequences there will be. Bert needs to be in a Canucks uniform again

It wouldn't be best for him or the team, given we need to get younger and there's just too much baggage here for him. BC can be a fishbowl for players as is, but to have something heavy like that lurking overhead before he even got here? It just wouldn't be good for him or his family. He's not the player he was, and I'd rather remember him the way he played for us back in the day.

Forget Bert's wishes, or bridges burned by Global. Am I wrong, or has Bert not tried to make Crawford and the Canucks complicit in legal responsibility (liability, read that $20 mill?) for the attack. And the current ownership inherited said liability if Bert is successfully petitioning they take on a lion's share of the bill... Suing the Canucks current ownership is a bigger bridge than any the old media could have engineered.

thad
Too much baggage to bring to the team when we are trying to turn a corner. If we were a top contender id be a little more inclined as we'd be killing it and the media would have nothing. If we're struggling to be a 500 team then all they're gonna talk about is how the acquisition of Bert is holding us back.
