Makes it all the more important that if Trev and Benning have a certain coach in mind (and I have no doubt that conversation has been had), that we move quickly to get him before he gets scooped up. Phil_314
I have my money on Florida. Nashville, anyone? The team's essentially the Western Conference, money-ball version of the Rangers, plus they have the grit throughout their lineup to play a team system that would work with Torts. Thing is, I'm not sure his system would work anywhere else given that younger teams would want to play more offensively. http://vansunsportsblogs.com/2014/04/01/under-john-tortorella-the-canucks-get-plenty-of-shots-but-few-scoring-chances/Tortorella’s system seems to focus on dump-ins to gain the zone with a hard forecheck to gain control on the puck. There has seemed to be an emphasis on shots from the outside, particularly the point, to create rebound opportunities for forwards going hard to the net. Fisher, Colin Wilson, Stalberg, Spaling and Bourque to fore-check, while Hornqvist works the net front and guys like Cullen, Jarnkrok, Craig Smith and Forsberg can make plays, while Weber, Josi, Ellis and Seth Jones can all contribute from the back end (though it's probably bye bye, Del Zotto again if Torts does go there). It totally fits the description of the hard-working, shot-blocking team that succeeded in NY in front of King Henrik like it can thrive in front of Rinne if they can get more scoring. Oh exactly, the sooner we've got a GM in place the better. Other teams aren't going to wait.
