(Proposal) Vancouver's Offseason and Trade Deadline

Recommended Posts

Draft Day

Hire Jim Bennings as GM

Vancouver should trade up for a top 2 pick. Imo this year was a one off and I dont see us doing that bad next year. I believe we are playoff bound and this year is the year to get a new franchise player so our rebuild wont last long. By the time our team truly needs a rebuild this team will be equip with a 1st and 2nd line center to take over. So....

Vancouver: D Chris Tanev, RW Niklas Jensen and our 2014 1st (6th)

Florida or Buffalo: 2014 1st and 3rd round draft picks.

Draft C Sam Reinhart

-Our next 1st line center. Plus he's a Vancouver native.

Offseason

Hire Todd McLelan (if fired) from SJ or Guy Boucher. Both have more offensive styles suited for the Canucks. Trotz is too defensive

Buyout LW David Booth

Signings

RW Zack Kassian 2 years @ 1.75mill per - Bridge contract

C Mike Santorelli 1 year @ 2mill - To make sure last year wasn't a fluke.

C Zac Dalpe 2 years @ 750 000 per - good utility player

C Colton Gillies 1 year @ 650 000 - tough player with some skill. From White rock

D Yannick Weber 2 years @ 900 000 per - Solid depth player that can slot in

D Clayton Stoner 2 years @ 850 000per - tough depth player that can fight and hit

Veteran Goaltender if needed. 1 year at 1mill or less

Daniel Sedin-Henrik Sedin-Zack Kassian

Alex Burrows-Ryan Kesler-Mike Santorelli

Chris Higgins-Shawn Matthias-Jannik Hansen

Tom Sestito-Brad Richardson-Colton Gillies

Zac Dalpe

Dan Hamhuis-Kevin Bieksa

Alex Edler-Jason Garrison

Ryan Stanton-Frank Corrado

Clayton Stoner-Yannick Weber

Eddie Lack

Jacob Markstrom/Veteran Goaltender

*If out of contention by the trade deadline we should have a fire sale and trade vets for draft picks and young players.

Vancouver: C Ryan Kesler and D Yann Suave

Pittsburgh: D Derrick Pouliot and their 2015 1st round draft pick

-you guys are grossly overrating Kesler. He WAS a Selke winner, but the last few seasons he hasn't been close to that. If he performs well next season he could get more but as of now this is as good as it can get.

Vancouver: D Alex Edler

Tampa Bay: RW Brett Connolly and a 2015 3rd round draft pick

-Connolly hasn't performed well in Tampa, but still has potential. I think he can get his game back in Van. If Edler bounces back we can get more.

Vancouver: C Shawn Matthias

Montréal: D Dalton Thrower

-Montréal wants to get bigger and Matthias is a big guy who can play.

Vancouver: LW Alex Burrows

Contending team: 2015 1st round draft pick

-burrows is very versatile. If a contending team needs a little extra burr can give them that.

Vancouver: RW Jannik Hansen

NYR: Conditional 2015 2nd round draft pick

-If the rangers make it to the ECF its a 2nd. If mot its a 3rd. Hansen was one of AV's workhouses he can give them a lot of depth and versatility.

*If we are in contention, we get depth if needed or stand pat. I think we will be in the playoffs next season.

1. I think that's a bit too much from our end. Take out Tanev and throw in Schroeder or a 2nd.

2. Sure

3. Sure

4. I'm not sure Montreal does this. They've got a lot of dmen prospects but they also have lots of old dmen (Markov, Boullion, Murray). They need their propsects to be ready in 1-2 years to replace these guys and I'm not sure they'll trade them.

5. Burrows isn't worth a 1st. He had the 10th most amount of points on the Canucks in a season filled w/ injuries and inconsistency. I think he's worth a 2nd. The only teams I see wanting him and him waiving to is NYR and I doubt they give anything more than a 2nd for him.

6.Sure

Overall, not too bad. One of the better proposals on this forum.

-You've got to give to get. I think its a package that would get Florida to bite. Schroeder isn't worth much and that 2nd wont help them next season.

-Montréal has Tinordi and Beaulieu in front of Thrower on the depth chart. I dont think he will get a chance to jump over those two.

-And burrows was 10th because he was probably the most injured one out of everyone. Plus he started doing well near the end of the season. If he can keep that pace up for next season I think we make the playoffs and if not he would be a worth a later first rounder.

You mention how Reinhart and Gillies are from BC but leave out that Stoner is from Port McNeil, BC? Just thought I would add that, that is all.

-Didn't realize he was a BC native. Thrower is also from Vancouver as well. Vancouver will become team BC with Reinhart, Thrower, Hamhuis, Garrison, Stoner, Connolly, Gillies and Santorelli if I have my way.

So go into the season with the exact same lineup basically, the same group who seems to have a major scoring problem?

I truly believe this season was a write off. Tort's wasn't the right coach for the team and it showed. Our stars had their worst years in a while under him. Now with a more offense coach our offense could turn around, plus the distractions are gone so the Canucks wont be a circus for the media anymore. Hey if we suck next year we can make the trades I suggested and go into full rebuild. Next years draft is apparently deeper anyways

Burrows would have to have a BIG bounce back season to be traded for a 1st rounder......................and waive his NTC. also would want Ekblad if we draft 1st

I think if he gets back to his 25G pace than he will be worth a later 1st. Gaustad was traded for a 1st and Burrows is better.

I don't know about getting a defenseman 1st overall. I think its a safer bet to get a first line center and maybe find a way to draft Hayden Fleury
