Franz Liszt
So this is proposal for a future top-12 forward group. - I personally don't believe its time for a full re-build, just a re-tool - With the right trades for young players, we can re-build while remaining competitive - Having a new president, GM and coach is the start of something new in Vancouver, once again - The trades for high draft picks also enables us to sign some UFAs To BUF: David Booth To VAN: BUF 2014 5th (121st overall) Buffalo has a ton a cap space and a lot of money in general. While they are rebuilding, a player like David Booth would fit into their middle-6 for a season until players like Ristolainen, Zadorov, Grigorenko, Pysyk, Armia, McNabb & Carrier. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To NYI: Chris Tanev (RFA), Nicklas Jensen, Jannik Hansen & VAN 2015 2nd To VAN: NYI 2014 1st (5th overall), CHI 2014 4th (~114th overall) + Anders Nilsson (RFA) Tanev, Jensen & Hansen = 1st 2nd = Nilsson + 4th ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To WPG: Alexender Edler, Yannick Weber (RFA) + Jordan Schroeder (RFA) + Joe Cannata To VAN: WPG 2014 1st (9th overall), Paul Postma + Keaton Ellerby (RFA) Edler + Weber = Postma + 1st Schroeder + Cannata = Ellerby ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Canucks 2014 draft picks are as follows: 5th: Michael Dal Colle - C/LW 6th: Nikolaj Ehlers - LW/RW 9th: Jake Virtanen - LW/RW 36th: Julius Honka - D 66th: Alex Peters - D ~114th: Alexis Pepin - C 121st: Hunter Smith RW 126th: Hugo Fagerblom - G 156th: Ryan Rehill - D 186th: Matt Revel - C Canucks Forward Group in 5 years Dal Colle Cassels Virtanen Shinkaruk Horvat Ehlers Fox Gaunce Kassian Archibald Lain Grenier Smith Peters Corrado Honka Subban Andersson Rehill Tommernes, McEneny Markstrom & Fagerblom I will add on to this with my UFA fill ins in a separate topic. NucksCup2015
Sorry Tanev/Jensen/Hansen is an overpayment for a first..1. Our best young dman2. Our current best offensive prospect from what he's shown in his limited time, certainly has shown he can play at the NHL level, has very good speed and mobility, is big, and can clearly snipe.Way way way too much man3. Edler aint waiving to go to Winnipeg and Winnipeg has no need for defensemen

Edler doesn't want to go to Winnipeg and I doubt Winnipeg wants/needs Edler Do you seriously think Cassels will become a 1st line center? Also, that would be the weakest defensive core in the NHL. Hansen is a replaceable 3rd liner, Jensen was a late first who showed a bit of NHL competence, but not enough to raise his value, and Tanev is a great defensive d-man, but doesn't put up many points. I'd say it's fair value for a first.

You're losing more (in a 1/2 of a shut down D tandem, and a sexy offensive player who showed great chemistry with Henrik) for a risky 5th overall pick that doesn't always plan out. MRAY
I like the draft part obvioulsy, MDC,Ehlers, and Virtanen, but Edler would probably only waive to a cup contending team and the NYI trade is kind of an over pay because i'd just honestly keep Jensen and Tanev
