CanuckFanForever1123
Just about every time I look at a proposal, I see a common theme of people wanting to ship off Tanev. I really don't get this one bit... Tanev can be re-signed at a pretty cheap deal, I'm gonna guess at most 3.5 per year, but likely closer to 3 a year. Sure, he isn't flashy, and he's never going to get a ton of points, but he's our most defensively responsible player. He was 2nd on the team in +/- this season, and played over 20 minutes per game. He can pair up with any d-man and be effective. He's also fantastic on the penalty kill. On top of all that, he doesn't take stupid penalties like Bieksa does for instance. In fact, he only had 8 penalty minutes in 64 games this year, which is absolutely phenomenal. With that, he was also tied 35th in the league in blocked shots, and at that pace, would have been top 10-15 had he played all 82 games. To me, this kid looks like he is among the most vital pieces to the future of this team, and can be had for a pretty low price for someone of his talents. I can't fathom why his name pops up so often in trade proposals. So again, I ask the question. Why do people want to trade him?

Azzy Mahmood
Most CDCers have a hockey IQ of 23, and consequently fail to appreciate how crucial Tanev is to our franchise. He and Hamhuis are the only two Dmen I would definitely keep.

But he could potentially fetch us a lot compared to other defenseman since he has young, semi-proven and is solid all around.

Tangelos
I know, blows my mind. "Let's trade our best and youngest Defenceman while we're retooling" Does not compute
Franz Liszt
Because value. Secondly, Corrado is going to play just as well as him, maybe even better. If we're retooling, one of those two should go in a package for a high pick in this year's draft.

Goat James
Is it just me or does most of CDC overlove Tanev and thus not wanting to trade him?
NucksCup2015
Corrado could flame out and burn. No guarantees he reaches Tanev's levelCorrado wont flame out, and right now Tanev and Corrado are 2 of our future top 4, no way either should be moved. Both are mobile, good first pass players and have good wheels and bring different things to the table, we will need both.In my view both are untouchable, you dont find many defenseman who can play that well that early in their career.Haven't you always heard, 'defenseman take longer'? Well these guys didn't, and it should tell you something
canuktravella
Sorry tanev isntworth 3.5 milll i say trade him and replace him with corrado and his cheap 600k elc, corrado has more of a offensive upside and he can hit. Watch tanev being traded to oilers or a team that needs defense we need a young sniper game ready or a nice draft pick
Coconuts
Because value, and he's one of the pieces we've got that could be easily moved while being something another team might actually desire. And by easily moved I mean he doesn't have a NTC blocking his being involved in a trade.
RonMexico
Corrado could flame out and burn. No guarantees he reaches Tanev's level It shouldn't be hard to reach Tanev's level....he is a top 6 defensive defenseman with some upside. That's not unreachable. Baka
Tanev is overrated on CDC. Yes, he is a good young player who can play a key role on the future of the team but he is not a unique player that you can build your defense around. Keeping him will not turn the Canucks into anything special and moving him won't suddenly derail any hope of success. Though I don't agree with most of the proposals people put him in he has good trade value and could fetch a return that helps the team more than he does. Whether it is for a player who offers a more immediate help for an aging fast declining core or for a rebuild where he returns a less developed player but one with a significantly higher ceiling. Ether way the real crazy thing is the fact that some people consider him to be untouchable.
canadiangunner
Hes never going to be a #1 dman. He does everything above average but nothing stellar or spectacular. He is very consistent and will be a good 4th or 5th dman. He doesn't fight or throw big hits or doesn't have a booming shot from the point. He's not a speedster. His value is good right now and can bring in a good prospect I would move him given our depth on D and lack of it up front. He's not an untradeable player like many nucks fans would have you believe. If tanev can land a top 6 scoring winger or center i'm moving him all day long.
