Sidney Crosby consoles Martin St. Louis on the death of his mother

Recommended Posts

something lost in all of this was the fact that when Crosby was just arriving to the rink, Marty was already riding the bike doing some exercises. Shows you his commitment and dedication to this sport and why he can still play at the level he can at his age.

I'm sure part of it may have been attributed to wanting to burn through/off some emotion and process things a little.

Saw this on FB and have a friend who hates Crosby who had to change her tune a little. Sure, it's "the thing to do" but some wouldn't. Playoff game faces are on and some would be too wrapped up in that....good on Sid. I've always liked him and this just confirms why.

Crosby is knows for his preparation and dedication as well so it's not like he's lazy. Nice move though I'm not sure he's the only one.

Its not that Crosby is always doing things that are special, its that he is always doing the things expected of any person (edit: and that is what makes him special).

He's the best player in the league who has also cut out (at least to some extent) the whining and theatrics that were part of his game for the first few years.

Funny Canucks fans seem to take whining and theatrics about refs pretty seriously, and we don't get bashed for it....oh wait.

I'm sure many players did this. There just weren't cameras around.

Regardless, classy move.

pretty much

it's much better for the cameras to see that, rather than aaron Rome and Marty

I don't get the Crosby hate myself. He's an amazing player and this kind of thing doesn't seem out of character for him in the slightest.

It's because he's a whiner. Remember the time he complained that fans were throwing hats on the ice after a hat trick? Or the time more recently when he was hilariously caught on mic in-game whining to Phaneuf to make Nazem Kadri stop hitting him during a game.

That, and the fact the media seems to worship him disproportionately compared to other stars. Sure he's the best player in the world (in the regular season that is, he's been average in post season the last few years), but it's overkill.

That's not to say I hate Crosby. I just don't like him as much as the NHL tries to push him. The Sedins take the same punishment Sid does and I've never heard them whine about it. This act was classy, but as others noted, chances are other players also said something to Marty and it just wasn't on camera.

Typically the home team always arrives a bit later than the visitors because the visitors all bus in together whereas the home team guys can drive themselves.

I don't think anyone can question Crosby's preparation given all he's accomplished and just how consistent he usually is
