Russianfan
I can't understand how the Montreal Canadiens are considered the "dark horse" of the play-offs when they have a super stacked team? Like are you kidding me? Golie: Price, a gold medal winner and one of the premier young golies in the league. Defence: Markov - a super star Russian defenceman, Subban - a former Norris Trophy winner and a rising star in the NHL. Forwards: Rene Borque - a dependable winger with an excellent future Daniel Briere - a super star in the NHL and a true playoff hero Brendon Gallagher - a steal of a pick, a great fast speedy winger who will be a 30+ g scorer Brian Gionta - a proven 50 goal scorer and a terrific captain Max Pacioretty - a 40 goal scorer break out year superstar in the making Thomas Vanek- are you kidding me? The leagues highest paid player and a premier super star added to an already stacked team? I cant understand how Montreal collected all these super star players on their team and still stayed under the market cap? How is that possible? How the hell did they get all these players? What a stacked team seriously.
Jägermeister
Briere? Gallagher? Gionta? Markov? BOURQUE??? I don't think you know what the word "superstar" means.
Russianfan
Briere is a 7 million dollar player.. Gallagher is a proven 40 goal scorer in the WHL. GIONTA clearly had a 50 goal season. Markov is another highly priced defencemen. Anyone who is making 7 + million is a superstar in my eyes and many others would agree.. Other wise they wouldnt be handed those checks, give your head a shake!

Where's Wellwood
The only superstar on that team is Subban. Price is on his way to being a superstar goalie (I don't care what he did in the Olympics. With the defense he had in front of him, how could anyone not look amazing). Vanek is overrated, Gionta is not a proven 50 goal scorer. The only players I'd call proven 50 goal scorers are Ovie and Stamkos. Gallagher will be a star, not necessarily a superstar, and he's not there yet. Xbox
LOL they aren't a dark horse. They have a good team. I hate them but anyone with eyes can see that. #1 Defenceman - check Stay at home top pairing D man for Subban - check Vezina caliber goalie? - check Good top 6? Vanek and Pacioretty are 1st liners. Goons? Parros and Prust - check Briere and Bourque can play top 6 roles, and their top 3 centers are fine, including a TWF - Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller Alex Galchenyuk will be coming back shortly too. It doesn't mean they're worth that much.

He's had one 48 goal season and has never reached anything close to that goal total since.
Russianfan
Price IS a star how can you dispute this? He was selected to represent Canada out of dozens of other goalies, he was chosen to be the best in the world and he won the gold medal. That automatically elevates him to a super star level. Vanek is the highest paid player in the league, Buffalo said this publically that they were going to pay him 10 million. NO ONE would be getting that type of money unless they truly were worth every penny. The GM's and Owners of the teams are massive penny pinchers they would not give out that type of dough unless they carefully reviewed and triple checked his worth. Gionta had a 50 goal season, that automatically makes him a 50 goal scorer. He had 80+ points several times in his career, that is a star in many peoples eyes. Gallagher is a upcoming phoenom, many people would argue that he is one of the best young forwards in the league. Markov is a premier Russian defence men, he played on the first line for the Russians during the Olympics, he is the best defensemen in the Russian system. THNK ABOUT IT cause I did ! Russianfan
Vanek is the leagues highest paid player, there is many reports out of Buffalo saying this. I just dont understand how people are not saying Briere is a superstar after all his dominant years in Phili! After what Gionta did in Jersey, after what Markov did and Subban did over their time in Montreal. Look at how well Gallaher and Parciottey are doing, amazing players. Not to mention premium GOALIE in Price! How do they all have all these players on 1 team and under the cap? Amazing team, how are they a dark horse? In all seriousness I do like the Habs team alot, I dunno about superstars but they have a very solid line-up. I would think Galchenyuk will be back soon, and he is a superstar in the making. He did not top 80+ points several times in his career, he did it once. His best season was 48 goals and 89 points in the 05-06 season almost a decade ago. Gionta scored 50 goals... if you add his last 3 and a half seasons totals up. If this makes him a star the Panthers should just sign Jonathan Cheechoo and they can run a line of Cheechoo - Gomez - Boyes because they are all proven superstars. Cheechoo is a proven 56 goal scorer, Gomez is a proven 84 point scorer and 2x cup winner, Boyes is a proven 43 goal scorer. Think about it. Like are you kidding me? They are considered the dark horse because they had to go through Boston. Teams thrive on that kind of thing. Besides, would you rather be called a dark horse or Cinderella? DeNiro
Any team that has a Norris winner and a goalie like Price is a legit contender. Add in clutch players like Gallagher, Briere, and Pacioretty, role players that step up like Weise, Desharnais, and Eller and they've got a very strong team. Not to mention Vanek, who could join the growing list of players from the 2003 draft that have won the cup.

TOMapleLaughs
When they got Vanek for pretty much nothing, I figured they were gonna go far. The league is sending a Canadian team deep again to appease us while all the talent funnels down south. Vanek won't be a Hab for long and I suspect Subban won't be either.
