Management and Coaching Staff [Future Setup] (Speculation...?)

This topic is for you to talk about who you want & think would be the best candidate as:

1.) General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks

2.) Assistant General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks

3.) Head Coach of the Vancouver Canucks

4.) Assistant Coach of the Vancouver Canucks

5.) New Scouting Services?

Take into consideration their mold, (if coach) coaching/play style, and their chemistry/if they would work well together. Consider their past history with/against each other and if they have history with one another. Would their styles gel?

What does the future of this team look like?

My favorite/ideal setup would be:

1.) Jim Benning

2.) Laurence Gilman

3.) Willie Desjardins

4.) Doug Houda; Glen Gulutzan

5.) Revamp the scouts in this organization. Clean house and get more successful scouts, more attuned to looking for what this team is looking for in prospects.

I realize that there are speculation topics for who the coach and gm will be, but this topic is mainly to be the one that merges those two with other organizational needs.

Am I the only one that thinks our scouting staff is fine?

The last 3 drafts the Canucks have done a great job at getting talent. I think people put too much focus on the scouts, and not enough on the criteria that management lays out for them.

Give Gillis credit, he seemed to have gotten drafting down since the 2011 draft.

Jensen

Horvat

Shinkaruk

Gaunce

Corrado

Cassels

Grenier

Cederholm

Subban

Labate

Hutton

Not all of these guys will pan out. But that's a pretty impressive list for three drafts IMO.

I am with you as well but I would go further.

This is one area of the game where the Salary cap does not apply. If I was a rich owner I would expand my scouting pool. Find those gems playing somewhere in the Ukraine where nobody else dare tread.

A rich owner could set up a huge advantage over the smaller market teams with its draft personnel. In political terms , we call it the 'ground game' .

Considering how late we have been drafting the past few years, yes, that is impressive.

We have also gotten lucky. Gaunce and Shinkaruk both fell to us and were predicted to go a lot earlier than expected.

Jensen was also really nice pick at 29th.

Hopefully we have make a few more late round steals this draft.

Nope I was doing my best to defend them in the other scouting thread ~ a week ago.

It's finally actually been good the last few years. If anything we should build off that, not tear it down.

Babies, bathwater and all that.

The Canucks seem to have a very good read on top players coming out of Sweden, which is really important.

Getting a guy like Kenins out of the Swiss league shows that they have been expanding a bit.

I still think they need to be more active in places like Finland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic though. There's good undrafted talent to be signed there. They don't seem to go there too often though.

I give most of the credit to Eric Crawford, truly.

Since bening seems unintrested id almost go for shero

As for coach looks like alot of good options jon stevens maybe a priority with what he does in la with the defence

How is Benning not interested? Because he didn't sign with another team two days after his team was eliminated?

You really need to stop with your impatience.

Doug MacLean just said that Benning to Vancouver is very likely. So take that for what it's worth.
