Gaborik Not Washed Up

Recommended Posts

9 goals in the playoffs! Wow! Seems like he's rarely healthy but when he's on he's extremely dangerous. LA shouldn't be able to afford him once the season is over imo but you never know. Where might he end up?

There was a lot of hate on Gaborik at the trade deadline btw. Has it ended??

He'll sign a contract this summer and get hurt early in the season. Book it.

That's fine for LA as long as he's back for the playoffs next year :P He's been amazing, what a pickup. Him and Kopitar have fantastic chemistry and seems to be thriving with LA. Kopitar has been the best centre for me hands down this playoffs. Absolutely dominant at both ends of the rink.

True player who plays for the cup: Signs dirt cheap in LA

Ready to retire: Signs in Colorado for 7 per season and 3 seasons

So cool if that happened

Resign Stastny too

Landeskog Duchene Stastny

O'Reilly MacKinnon Gaborik

Tanguay Mitchell McGinn

Lose Barrie... lose Varlamov... giving Gaborik the Sedin contract would be suicide.

In L.A., Gaborik is protected; the first time in his career.

Problems is he's paid like a top 3 forwards....but with LA he's not. He's the fifth or 6th forward on this team at least (Carter, Richards, Brown, Kopitar).

Therefore less pressure. I would take him at anything less than 5M, but doubt that happen.

not when they7 have 30 Mil in cap

What are you talking about? With Landeskog, O'Reilly, Duchene, MacKinnon and Stastny, you got about five forwards who are worth roughly 6 million a piece. Add a 6 mil goalie and you have a pretty solid team... if only for the lack of great defencemen. They don't need another skilled forward, let alone someone who is old and likely overpaid at $7m. Johnson and Barrie have been great, but just imagine if they went for Dion Phaneuf or something. Not the best investment, but he could certainly log minutes and be a leader on the blue line.

Disagree, he's the second most talented player up front after Kopitar and him and Anze seem to be a match made in heaven.

Gabs is finally in a role that fits him: Support player.

He's the proverbial "Icing on the cake"

Teams have tried to build around him as a core player his whole career and it's never worked. But adding offensive punch to an already established squad is perfect for him. I would also put Nash, Kessel and Stastny in that catagory.

I wonder if any team will be stupid enough to offer him core player money this offseason?

I don't care if he wins the Conn Smyth, I wouldn't offer him more than 2 years at 4 mill per.

I seriously think Gaborik could snipe 50 playing with Kopitar if he stays healthy for an entire year. All of his nine goals so far this post season have been scored different. He has shown me he is not a one dimensional goal scorer. He can do it flying down the wing, walking dmen wide, tipping picks in, snipes from the high slot, batting pucks out of the air and grinding out greasy goals in the blue paint. I've loved his skill set since he used to torch the Canucks in a Wild uni. He will be clutch against the Hawks.

Im quiet impresed with him these playoffs. Like was mentioned he is not one dimentional type of goal scorer. If the kings go to the cup he could be that crusial late season pickup that every team trys to do like when we added lapiere and higgy but this time more potent

I remember Gaborik coming up to Vancouver the first time he was a free agent. Everyone drooled about the prospect of the Sedins with Gaborik. A healthy Gaborik with the Sedins...one can only dream.
