Nuxfanabroad
Wanna preface this by stating I haven't seen much of Galchenyuk's play this season..but did notice his numbers seemed avg. Had a -12 on the board. Is he defensively suspect(appreciate feedback)? I think Mtl will need a future defensive centre who's strong at draws. Also, more size/youth. On capgeek it seems they have a significant # of UFA/RFA's, thus they'll have openings. Van needs top-6 skill, especially blossoming in 2~4 yrs, as our best players move on.So... Mtl send- Galchenyuk, Bourque. Van: Horvat, Archibald, Burrows(retain 1 mill x3 seasons),..?..would we need to add a pick(value estimation?). Wouldn't go higher than a 2nd. Criticize if need be. Admittedly don't know enough about Gal(realizing he was a terrific junior, taken 3rd) At any rate, appreciate honest opinions/feedback. I think these two squads could make good dance partners again. Also Mtl might be more cooperative(still appreciative!), as the Weise deal has paid off nicely for them.
canucks155
Gally drafted 3rd OVR. Horvat drafted 9th OVR. MTL laughs.
Nuxfanabroad
^But might Horvat have been picked top-5 if he were eligible that season? Would you agree that Mtl could use a player in the mold of Horvat, going fwd(ROR, Bergeron-type)?
DrChill
Interesting new idea. Good job. Don't like the trade though
MJDDawg
Montreal laughs. Seriously. Galchenyuk is an elite level talent and will be their number 1 centre in a few years. Horvat's top end might be second line, but in all likelihood he'll be a reliable third line player.

So if we added more, the eventual cost wouldn't be worth considering? sidenote:I'd want to swing such a deal, alongside, Kes & Edler packages, so many here have discussed. Want to see the franchise get younger/prepare for next gen.
MayRayDown
I'd rather have Horvat and burr+tbh. Galchenyuk is a good talent but is coming off his elc next offseason which = payday. While we could still have Horvat for 900k for a couple seasons. I'd rather get eller since he'd be cheaper

Should Galchenyuk reach his full potential, perhaps he's up in Ryan Johanssen-heights? Such players aren't easy to acquire, & risk will aways be involved. Ultimately it should be based on who'd be more valuable(3~5 yrs out) to our team, Gal or Ox? Could Cassels/Gaunce/whomever? fill the void, when Kes & Horvat are no longer answers? They're not going to trade Galchenyuk for Horvat

Not for Galchenyuk, but don't you think the Canucks need a player "in the mold of Horvat" going forward too?
