Sounds like Edmonton GM Scott Howson was in Vancouver for an interview. He didn't respond to a call, email or text seeking comment. That is The Triple Crown of avoidance. 9. Vancouver fans wondered if the Pittsburgh opening would affect Jim Benning's candidacy. He's had two interviews. If they aren't negotiating with him now, the view is askew. King Heffy
In Howson's defense, he had a situation similar to our goalie debacle with Nash demanding a trade and supplying a small list. He got pretty decent value for Nash all things considered.
UFCanuck
Good Job Linden, Howson would be a great choice.
Xbox
Benning is my first choice but honestly Scott Howson is a good GM. He made some good moves and got Bob for nothing and got great value for Nash.
Down by the River
Somewhat of a misleading title as it is not necessarily the case that there is something 'askew' with Benning's interest in being GM for the Canucks, just speculation that if negotiations weren't being made, something would be wrong. May long weekend here in BC, an announcement about Benning could come as early as Tuesday.
TimberWolf
Just because you may have a candidate in mind you still cover the bases. Also the candidates have minds of their own of course and if they'd rather work elsewhere then that is that.
FlyLow_
Everyone thought Howson was a nutjob at the time, but in hindsight he did a good job in Columbus. The thing is, if people remember he's not a guy that should be put in front of media. I'm fine with it if I don't have to hear him talk, he might be more unlikeable than Gillis and that says alot. Caboose
Howson is an awesome choice. The CBJ team that made the playoffs certainly wasn't built by Jarmo Kekelainen.

Pears
To be honest, I wouldn't mind Howson, he's made some decent trades and signings, it's just his drafting that concerns me.
